it was a joke, i pmd "kos gaz" to a detective after he was already comfirmed dead for quite some time. I didn't know it would still be considered ghosting even when the dude was dead if I could've at least gotten a warning instead of outright banned for 28 days for a joke.​

Hello there Oprah! Thank you so much for taking your time to appeal your ban on the forums and I hope you're having a fantastic night. Now lets get to why I banned you.

I was informed by the player Xiu of you giving him information he wasn't aware of at the time as he told me this through admin chat of you telling him to KOS a player as you've said.

So I then checked to see you had said that previously in dead chat as well which can be found here as well with what Xiu told me coming from my point of view.

With that said I'd like to explain to you what Ghosting is. Ghosting would be giving information to alive players that they were not yet aware of not as you are dead even if they player had access to checking the "confirm dead" list of people Xiu was not aware of this. So even if Gaz was confirmed dead, Xiu hadn't yet known of this. Yet you made him realize this and that's why he let me know through admin chat about the situation. I then banned you accordingly following protocol after discussing this situation with my admin @BmTron. I can understand this being a joke and it not being a major detriment to the core gameplay, so I really want to hear what else you have to say after this reply to decide my verdict. Thanks for being patient.

 

That's understandable, it was a stupid joke my bad, I'd love to be unbanned I didn't know it was still considered ghosting. Let this be my warning please.

 

Hello there again Oprah, so here's the conclusion I've reached after thinking about this situation thoroughly and after discussing it with my Admin @BmTron some more.

What I'm going to do is shorten the ban length to two weeks seeing you've already served two days at this point of the ban. The reason for this being that I appreciate you going out of your way to explain yourself and while what you did is still very much against the rules, as I stated previously the situation presented was not a major detriment to others gameplay at the time. But I want you to realize that Ghosting is a major offense around here for a reason, it's not something we at Serious GMod handle lightly so what I'm going to do is as I've said, is shorten the ban to two weeks considering your ban is only local. Please do keep in mind that if you commit this act again and you're punished for it you will get a much longer ban period and it will most likely be a global ban. Take this as a learning experience and ensure that nothing like this happens again. In the meantime as you wait for the shortened ban to expire reflect on what you've done and think about how you want to play from now on, do feel free to play on our other servers as they are available to you though!
