    Name of Staff/Player:
    Alice
    Steam ID of Staff/Player:
    Not sure.
    Your Steam ID:
    STEAM_0:1:16556279
    Which Server:
    West 2
    Which Map:
    Bowling Alley
    Which Round:
    3? Not sure.
    Time of Occurence:
    Around 11:50 PM - 12 AM
    Reason For Report:
Slayed me for 2 rounds for a crossfire incident. Guy in a tight room (the tester room in bowling alley) was jihading, I was right behind him with a double barrel and accidentally killed the guy standing directly to the right of him. I apologized to the guy (I had 200 ping at the time as well). The guy didn't report me, but Alice did themself and said 'he wasn't close enough for a crossfire' even though the player I killed was standing right next to the guy, and the jihad and player both died right next to each other.
    Evidence And/Or Witnesses:
None. Didn't think to take a screenshot or anything as I didn't honestly think I would get slain for 2 rounds for it.

Good morning, @Ratzin, and thank you for taking the time to file a report and have this situation clarified. I'll give my side here as I did in-game.

I had been present in the room when you killed the person in question and I could see the situation happen for myself. There are two reasons that I chose to report it, and issue a slay for it upon hearing your response. The first reason is the positioning of the two users. As you said, from your perspective, they were standing next to each other, not in front/behind one another, and there was a fair distance between them at the time that you shot the other person. The second reason is that the person jihading had already been dead for about a full second by the time you had shot the other person. You were using a Double-Barreled Shotgun at the time and your shot landed for 180 damage, showing that it was, beyond a reasonable doubt, intentional for you to shoot the person. I did not see any potential for crossfire in this situation and I issued two slays, as it was your second offense of RDM during your time on the server.

I apologize if I did not make these points clear enough in-game. I will wait for my administrator's verdict.

I'm not sure if you understand how lag works, but as I said, I had 200+ ping at the time and was lagging a bit. What you're saying is probably true, that he was dead for a full second, but on my screen/at the time, he wasn't. There's two perspectives here you need to think about.

If I were to consider your connection when giving my verdict on the report, it would be a case of accidental RDM, which would still require a slay.

That being said, still, they were right next to each other at the time.

If either of you have visual evidence, don't forget to include that.

"Crossfire" would indicate that the users are in front of/behind one another and that you would almost have to shoot at or around a user to hit your target. In this case, they were right next to each other from your perspective as well as mine, with a considerable distance between them. A choice would have to be made between the two.

There was no distance between them or very few, the Double Barrel isn't an accurate gun, and I had meant to shoot the jihad, obviously, as I don't enjoy getting slayed and my time wasted. Like I said though when you told me to report you Alice, this was going to be a waste of time and nothing was going to come from it.

There was enough space to fit a third player, should one choose to stand there. I am aware of the DB's spread, but hitting someone with the spread of the gun would result in multiple smaller tags of damage rather than one very large one, and wouldn't kill someone that was caught in crossfire.

While we don't punish for crossfire incidents here at SGM, we do punish for misclicks and errors of that nature. Severe lag falls somewhere between those two. While Alice's perspective was that the timing of the event made it RDM, I prefer to advocate a gentler hand when there's any chance of there being a mistake, whether due to lag or potato aim.

The point is that your stated intent was to shoot someone who jihaded. You shouldn't have been punished as if it was malfeasance without a glaring error in your behavior. I'll note the voiding of two of your slays and talk to Alice on the subject.
