Alright, so get on your tinfoil hats, kiddies, because this one is out there. So I was thinking, among all of the complaints of hackers and bad hit detection that myself and others have had (and had only been met with the response of "get gud". Thank you, no one needs to say it.), what keeps players coming back to CS:GO? I thought long and hard on the matter, then took a little break; a peanut butter sandwich, then went back to thinking. It hit me then that Valve is has designed every aspect of CS:GO to increase their profits... like some sort of... CORPORATION THAT MAKES GAMES. But really, think about it. With the ranks that waver, guns that don't fire where you point them(accuracy at distance), and spread patters, valve has designed a game that has a large skill gap - a gap where even the worst player can still get a lucky headshot. The frustration caused by being paired with a hacker or getting one-tapped on one hand, and the joy of having a good game by skill or by luck on the other make for a spectrum of emotion that the largest numbers of players possible are put at the ends of. Think. Why would Valve want their players to be left to chance to be either very happy, or very sad?... Because in a large number of people, those who have had substantial bouts of good or bad luck are more likely to leave something up to chance: to gamble. And what greater gamble is there than the all-mighty cases? Nearly three dollars for a chance at a hundred dollar prize. And by the time you open your first case, you're already invested. You'll keep coming back to the game because you are invested in it. And the angrier or happier you are, the more you'll give to Valve. So you can bet your sweet laminated Kalashnikovs that Valve is gonna make you as happy or as angry as they can. And let's face it, which of the two is easiest to make people? TL;DR: Valve has a marketing department.
TL;DR but Valve are marketing genius's. Give them credit that despite their Microtransactions they are 100% cosmetic and isn't Pay2Win. Riot do this too, just not as well because some champions are stronger than others (I think?!) Just be thankful you had a good game that isn't made my Ubisoft, else you'd be paying for the AWP not the skin.
When you think about it the money they make from this game is ridiculous, even with the skin creators getting money.
I apologize if this comes off as rude, but I think you're mistaking your skill for inconsitency in the game mechanics. If you've ever watched a pro game, or atleast a high skill level game you'd realize this pretty quickly. Although it takes time to learn the game, learn the spray patterns, learn how to stutter step etc it starts to remove these inconsistencies. For example, if you decide to spray down Long A of dust 2 with an ak with someone in pit you are unlikely to hit them due to the spray of the gun. However if you were to stutter step out behind box onto ramp and tap and repeat this you'd have a much higher chance of killing them(assuming you can aim.) I do agree that people can get lucky headshots at lower levels when they are learning the game, however it eventually gets to a point where its just controlling the game mechanics. Valve doesn't use hackers as a strategy, I can almost gurantee this. It would be in bad taste, however you could say they do at the same time as they don't IP, simply account ban them. However, I do agree that they use peoples emotions to keep them playing the game and spending money on it. Yay for gambling right?
Guns become less accurate at a distance and shooting while in high pressure firefights is somewhat luck bases?! THIS IS MADNESS! Or you know, hyper-realistic. Do you know how many firefights among police involve over 50+ shots? A lot. Yea know how many of those are under 20 feet apart from officer to assailant? Almost all of them. And they miss. Bruh.
Believe me, this is exactly what I thought in the beginning. And it's what I kept telling myself. But when I was missing mid-range one-taps standing still with the cross hairs directly on the head, I got a little flustered. Bullets that clearly hit did no damage. Again, I thought "So the hitboxes are a little off. Every game has that problem.", and I did some research to find where the hitboxes trail to play more accurately. While I was looking around, though, I found countless videos like this one: That clearly show that the game ignores damage for shots that the game itself registers as "hits". If the game is recognizing shots as hitting major hitboxes, when why are those shots not causing damage?
That's all fine and dandy but I've never had any occurences like that. I wouldn't be surprised if it was staged. Again, watch the pros. Doesn't look like that.
I've had many occurrences like this. As for the pros, keep in mind that they usually play on LAN networks.
In your post you claimed that it was game mechanics, not servers which lead to the inconsistencies. If you were to take into account the 64 tick servers and ping then yes, it is possible for shots to not properly hit the hitboxes etc.
I don't think how well you do in the game leads you to buy keys and unbox cases, because that's what I got from the thread People who do this know the risk, and chances are anyone who can afford it will unbox
The way I see it, is they provide a great game with an incentive to spend money in micro-transactions...but it isn't pay to win. They make money, we have fun, who cares? Unless of course you're really bad at the game, like Gold Nova's and Silvers are. They will always find something to hate on the game for.
I've come across this problem and I usually have 5 ping. HOWEVER, I don't really give two fucks because I just want to have fun, not do well.
