Wasn't sure if this should be a suggestion for a rule or a question that needs to be answered, so take it as both Say someone says they are about to throw a grenade, grenades in this thread will be limited to all but the smoke, but they drop it instead. Sometimes this looks like actually throwing it if they jump and let go of it in air. Not wanting to take chances, a bystander kills the person but he's inno, and he gets killed/slain the next round. What if someone drops a disc. on a roof with a lot of people, or a frag/incind. in a room with a lot of people and/or announces it on the mic. Is this not traitorous? It's implying the insecurity of a group or a single other person so wouldn't (s)he have the right to shoot back? I get it that the sound of a frag being thrown and it being dropped are completely different things, but what about a disc.? There is little to no difference between the two occurrences. By the time it goes off, it might be too late to call anyone out because you're dead by fall damage due to the disc.
When you are throwing a grenade, the animation goes over. When you are dropping a grenade, the animation goes under. Dropping grenades is not, nor will it ever be, a traitorous act.
Dropping a grenade is not a traitorous act. Dropping grenades make a noise when they hit something while throwing them makes no sound (except frags).
As Event said, a dropped grenade makes a sound. That sound is the same sound as dropping any other weapon or equipment.
As a little more information you can tell the difference between someone dropping a Frag Grenade and someone throwing a Frag Grenade: A Frag Grenade that is DROPPED will make a silent clunking sound as if it was being dropped on wood no matter the surface. A Frag Grenade that is THROWN will make a loud banging sound as if dropped on a heavy metal surface. This might not be 100% Accurate so wait for the explosion anyways otherwise you might mistaken one being thrown and one being dropped.
The person has to say "I threw a grenade" for this rule to apply, because he would be admitting to doing something traitorous. Making threats doesn't count. Same reason someone can be killed for saying "i am a traitor".
This is just a question related to grenades: When you pull the pin on a grenade to "cook" it, is there any sort of visible or audible cue that tells you the pin has been pulled? Because I've seen people kill others for "pulling the pin on a grenade" without them having actually thrown it.
To my knowledge, there is no sound or animation that plays for frags' pins being pulled or any other grenades for that matter.
