As the title says, there is a malicious TinyURL being spread from someone who originally began posting it. Do NOT click on this link, it will ban you from our servers and we have no way of removing the ban as the TinyURL script likely messes with settings on your end; it's not an actual ULX ban. Anyone seen posting this link on the forums or servers will get a respective 1 month ban.
Say someone got a hold of this link and used it to rid vanilla of the microphone-choking kids, would that get a ban? just out of curiosity
Adam, honestly you need to stop. Lately, you've been a big troll since this came out. You've be told to stop multiple times, and you know joking about using it isn't going to make it any better.
If this is a client-side ban, would re-installing Garry's Mod get rid of it (or STEAM, if you need to go that far)?
There is no such thing as "client-side ban" When you would get banned from clicking the link, the link would get your IP and make it so that it seemed as if it was an attack (Ddos) and then the server protection would respond and perma ban you based off of your IP. Highwon has apparently handled the situation by unbanning the people affected by it. If any other server has the same kind of protection as we do (I'm not sure if all servers do) you could theoretically attack that server and cause mass confusion.
Just to raise awareness: It is not a client-side ban. It's a source engine ban. It's automatic. The script makes your computer load the server's IP numerous times and the server automatically bans you for to many attempts. It's an anti-DDOS precaution. This is automatic and programmed into the source engine. Highwon cannot undo these bans, these bans last no more than 3 days and are temporary.
No, it bans you from the server using the source engine. It bans your IP. It doesn't ban your account.
