Vote to Mute System

Since STTT is very popular and many of the players that play on the servers have and use microphones to talk with one another. But, sometimes things get out of hand and mods/admins can only do so much.

I propose we have a voting system where we can mute certain players that are abusing voice and/or text chat. This is how I imagine it would work in a full server of 36 players.

    1. 5 players vote to mute one person for 1 - 2 minutes. (15% of players have to vote)
    2. 10 players vote to mute one person for one round. (30% of players have to vote)
    3. 19 players vote to mute one person for the duration of a map or dealt with by a staff member currently on the server. (51% of players have to vote)
    4. 27 players vote to kick (possibly a temporary ban?) one person. (75% of players have to vote and this should only be implemented when there is no staff member currently on the server)
EDIT: Came up with a better idea after reviewing the old one.

Say 8 players type !votemute Vivacious into chat. Instead of me getting muted instantly, a vote pops up that allows the whole server to vote on whether or not to mute me.

To make it clearly obvious, this is only a rough idea. It is up to Highwon to determine all the percentages and such if he decides to utilize this system.

No, I can see the system being abused very quickly with this. I disagree with this notion. While you might not have any other intentions, there may be some people who might use the system to troll others.

People who have done nothing wrong might be picked on by a group of friends in that case. And if it gets bad enough, it might make people more annoyed at the servers. Leave the muting/gagging to the staff members and nothing else.

    -1 for this.

I understand where you are coming from, but that is why we have mods and admins usually on the servers to moderate and protect users from any sort of abuse. I can see this only being extremely abused when there are no staff members on the servers. But, even then, the server is already chaotic with RDMers and the such.

Not to say names, but I have seen one user in particular being bullied on the servers for the past two days now. What makes me sick to my stomach about it is by the time a staff member jumps in to stop it, what started out as one or two people became 5 or 6 players harassing the person.

Maybe instead of a certain of players voting, it could be like vote to begin a server vote?

Say 8 players typed !votemute Vivacious. Instead of being muted, it starts a vote and everyone votes on whether or not to mute me?

Again, it can still be abused. People might end up trolling with it and end up causing more problems then there should be. Just stick to the current system and if you hear and/or see someone spamming, then record or take a screenshot.

CDriscoll Lemme advise you VIP Bronze

If you see anybody being verbally, physically, mentally, or emotionally abused in any manner that is malicious, you need to message me, another staff member, or report it on the forums. Serious TTT is a place for enjoyment and we will not tolerate any bullying. I, as a person, will protect every single one of you against such things. Here at Serious TTT we care for you guys and we will do our best to ensure a good habitat for you guys. That also means that you must step in and report it if you see it. I would like you to notify staff in a different place of this said player.

    Thanks,
    CD

The people most affected by this would be those with high pitched voices. There is never any need to just add a new way to harass someone.

If you don't want to hear someone, ttt's scoreboard has a built in mute function.

press TAB to view the scoreboard and click on the speaker/volume icon next to the player you want to mute.

We have mods for a reason, they can take care of any mic spammers, and if no staff are online, like event said, the mute button is easily accessible.

If this got implemented then "squeakers" would be the main people getting muted.
