I want to upgrade to have larger video ram to my laptop HP Pavilion dv6-6c10ed. I want more video ram so I can play better games with higher graphical settings and less lag. I bought skyrim realizing I cant play it because it lags to high hell because of my video ram. If you guys can't help me I can just take it to best buy and see what they have to say. But help would be nice. (the HP Pavilion dv6-6c10ed is my computer I play all my games on so I dont have it right now. I am looking to upgrade my ram so that way I dont have to buy a new computer.)
Unfortunately you can't change parts on a laptop in 99% of cases so you either need a new laptop or a desktop.
Get a USB. Use that as ram. Graphics cards in your laptop chances are has to use your base ram along with its ram for increased performance.
You would need a whole new motherboard as most of the part on a laptop a sauntered (I think thats how you spell it) to the motherboard.
So since im most likely gunna need a new computer and my complete lack of knowledge on how to build one, what should I do? A. Build a Desktop (by this I mean send it to my uncle who builds computers all the time) [also what would I need for it] B. Get a Pre built desktop (suggestions) C. Get a new laptop (suggestions)
Downloading more RAM, from what? Air? Anyone who would believe that shoulden't be on the internet as its not a safe place for your virgin brain.
You are able to replace the ram on a laptop. Its usually on the bottom the laptop and you can easily access it. Also if getting new ram make sure its laptop ram also try to get 2 pieces of ram For ex: 8GB: 4x2. 2 pieces of ram is better because it runs on the channels of your computer
That noteboook has a AMD Radeon HD 7470M, which is only benchmarked at being able to get 25FPS max. Based on the reviews I looked at, upgrading to 8GB RAM won't help. Try running it at a lower resolution. If you can't find a workable resolution then you need a new system.
Ram isn't everything when it comes to running PC games or applications. It's all about the CPU and GPU from there. Ram is only used to have and keep many applications running.
Skyrim takes up alot of video memory. Most graphics cards have video memory built in, but Skyrim takes up around 2GB. OP's GPU only has 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Sometimes your computer will automatically allocate RAM to be virtual video memory. Unfortunately if OP has 4GB it should be enough and adding more won't help.
My current laptop is the lenovo P580. Can somebody tell me how I can boost its performance without buying a new computer?
Place that bitch in a ring of salt and pepper(IT HAS TO BE SEA SALT NONE OF THAT IODINE SHIT) praise the lord and savior lucifer for a second chance at life in exchange for your laptop, Once the ritual is over you will have spawned as a lesser demon in disguise as a wealthy businessman once all of this is done you buy a new comp with your newly acquired money
If you're running Windows 7, you can stop all the fancy "see through window" thingys which does help a lot. (I used to game on a Laptop) Go on your Start and search up "Performance" It'll show up as "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows" Then click it and it'll proceed you to a little menu, look for the option "Adjust for the best performance" It won't do A LOT but it'll certainly help. And to set Windows back to normal, do the WHOLE thing again but this time click "Lets Windows decide" yadada And there you go. I would honestly recommend a cheap prebuilt gaming PC to run Skyrim. I wouldn't at all recommend "boosting" your Laptop hardware artificially (Overclocking your hardware) seeing how you're on a laptop and the parts can easily melt. Unless of course the laptop's BIO allow for this then go ahead.
