HAWTjanitor1 just won the lottery for the third time in a row. Now, I know there's an old thread somewhere out in the deep dregs of the forums, but I ain't gonna go gravedigging and get warned. So I'm making a new one. If a person wins a lottery, he has the option to put some of it in the next lottery. With winnings like 160k, you can easily put 80k in (800 tickets) and win another 160k. I know, I remember the comments on the old thread, stuff like "I've seen people with XXX tickets lose to a guy with X tickets" or "If you wanna win, go pool". But still, what are the odds of a person with less than 1% winning chance winning against a person 30% winning chance? A person wins the lottery once, wins the next, and wins the one after that. He just won 400k+. People say stuff like "Well, it's his own decision, he legitimately won those points and so he has the right to put them in the next lottery if he wants." But what about giving chance to others? Isn't that the point of the lottery, to give others a chance to get the jackpot? Now I have several suggestions to alleviate this problem: (each one is an individual suggestion, please consider them separately) 1. Make it so a person can only win the lottery once every X days/weeks. 2. Make the jackpot be constant, and each player can only buy a lottery ticket once per draw, so it's a fair chance for everyone. 3. Make it so there is a maximum number of tickets bought per draw.
i'm just gonna say -1 to this idea. true enough he bought many ticket 36k pts of ticket that means he get a higher chance, My suggestion would be have a split lottery (60% to first prize, 30% to 2nd prize and 10% to 3rd prize)
Well, it's his own decision, he legitimately won those points and so he has the right to put them in the next lottery if he wants.
Yes, everything that happens to those points rests upon him. He can give it away, he can put it in the next lottery. But that removes the fun in the lottery. Like I said, what are the chances of you winning vs a guy who has 300 tickets.
Not the same, but the chances of him winning vs the chances of 300 others who each bought a ticket are the same. Look dude, I've never won a single lottery, and I've been entering since august. But I'm not complaining, 'cause I know its fair, and if I keep entering I'll probably win eventually too. The fun in a lottery is being jealous of those who keep winning, and entering over and over again 'till the point where when you do win, you still haven't won back as many points as you put in.
The problem is, in that scenario, one person (the one who bought the 300 tickets) has 50% chance of winning, as against the 300 people who bought 1 ticket each, who will each have 50%/300(people) = 0.0017% chance of winning. He gets the same chance of winning, yes, but with the 300 people COMBINED. Besides, I don't believe we have had a lottery with over 100 people joining.
300 tickets is a mere 30k, and one lottery win gets you 100+ in average. Especially after winning 3 lotteries, 30k is nothing.
You're right the lottery is corrupt (excuse me for being dramatic) and the fact that one man has the same chance of winning as 300 others is unfair also I w believe I have ever even seen a lottery with over 100 people.
I have a better plan in my opinion, make the lottery so you can do it everyday. BUT, there is a 1 ticket limit.
I'm not whining because I keep losing, no. I'm saying everything I said because it's unfair if the previous winner keeps stocking those points to win the next one, because no one gets a decent chance to win.
Yes, I know you lose at times. The thing is, it's very rare for a guy with 300+ tickets to lose to a guy with 3 tickets, say.
Looking at the Lottery Winners as of today, I see 3 people who has won the Lottery twice. I know they have their absolute right to put their points wherever they want; they won it fair and square. But still, it takes some of the fun out of the lottery.
