Some universities have closed down here and some schools. My school is still open but I wouldn’t be surprised if we are closed down for a bit. The fact I could graduate HS later or take online classes is weird. Also, I’ve heard that those with asthma do count as those more vulnerable so that hasn’t made me feel that good. I’m currently sick and do have a little cough but I’m trying not to overthink it lol. On a side note I’ve heard it’s possible that PC components may go up in price if the virus really starts to affect things overseas and China like it sorta has already. I still have 2k worth of parts to get so that is not very cash money if prices go up and less items are available.
Expect everything to go up in price and be in limited quantities. I do purchasing and instruction for a large university and you wouldn't believe the random shit we can't get our hands on. I have suppliers on 3 month back orders, and that is a best case scenario that assumes full production, which isn't likely. God forbid anyone needs anything roughly useful against Coronavirus, you'll never get that shit. Grainger, FisherSci, McMaster, MSC, etc. Thankfully I keep stocks of N95s and cleaner on hand for day to day shit, should it come to it. With the US about to cripple most of its manufacturing and transport capabilities it is only going to get worse. When you close the schools you close the manufacturing plants and force folks to stay home with their kids. The one thing industry wants is stability. Closing schools just added millions of process variables to their plans.
My school is closed for the next 2 weeks because of Coronavirus, yaay. There has also been a case of the virus in the next village of mine which is like 3-4 miles away, pretty close. About preparing, we havent done much really, not like those poeple who fight over the last piece of toilet paper in the markets. Our strategy is to just stay at home for the time being and only go out when we really need to with mask on which isnt much of a protection.
At the moment my high school John Marshall; They have no plans of closing the school however they do plan on preparing to close the school just in case. At the moment in the state of Minnesota there is 58 cases. And in Olmsted county ( My county ) There is 14 cases. And in my city of Rochester... There is 3 Luckily here in Rochester we have the world's best hospital ( Literally https://www.mayoclinic.org/ ) the Mayo Clinic, so most of Southern Minnesota has access to the best treatment and provisions in the world.
every public uni in the state shut down until the 30th, and most are transitioning to online instruction. witnessed two 70 year old ladies get into a shoving match for the last roll of toilet paper at walmart. pretty epic experience overall
I had to drive back to my mom's house (which is like four days drive away) because my college is "online" now and apparently one of the professors might have had Corona. My sister--who is in middle school--is off until the 27th of March. My dad is a teacher, so the colleges he teaches at are all closed. People here are buying groceries like it's the apocalypse, I don't think a single store in the county has fresh vegetables or wipes (which won't help protect you from the virus, just FYI). I understand the concern, this comes with every epidemic or virus. But from what I've heard, the corona virus isn't that extreme and most of these precautions are unnecessary.
Governor = dipshit School still isn't canceled because they are gonna talk about it Monday. Like cancel it if ur gonna talk about it you fucking Buffon.
California is going to shit right now. Businesses are losing income and more public places each day are closing down. Governor just closed down Gyms, Theaters, Clubs, Dine-in restaurants. People are losing jobs left and right. Making no income as of now.
GG Serbia They wanted to start doing online classes just like the rest of the world. But unlike the rest of the world, they will broadcast lectures on TV.
Well from the public perspective: They just called local state of Emergency here.... All schools are closed as well as daycares and rec centers run by the city. Private ones are being ordered to close as well. All non-essential services are to work from home or close. Post secondary/Universities/colleges are doing online courses. Now from a Health Care/Health Care Support perspective: It's a shit show. We're slammed with numerous requests to procure hardware/software when the government slashed our budget so we can't make do. Hospital staff are just stressed the hell out. All corporate services, including us in IT have been given directive to work from home. Anyone who works in the hospitals will remain as it's a critical service. It's a fun time for everyone. Thankfully I don't work in the hospitals but I feel for those who do.
My brother has a respirator he can use, though he's also planning on wearing it with his plague doctor mask.
