Honestly, although trump has some completely abhorrent views and opinions as a person, you literally can't deny that he managed to run the country like a business and keep it afloat. He won because he was up against Hillary Clinton who already had an extremely toxic public view from a clearly large number of Americans. She however received a significant amount of support just for being the lesser of two evils and would be eaten alive in any other attempts from here on out. To my knowledge none of the democratic candidates right now have anything like that going for them. Trump hasn't exactly kept his promises (not all presidents fulfill them all... but he really just hasnt done much of anything besidse block transgender people from going into the military), backpedaled a lot, swirling in controversies from his obstruction of justice to jailing kids, lied to his own party on a number of issues, talks big but can't exactly get past house democrats which to republican voters can be seen as weakness, and stirred a pot that was otherwise a very settled bunch of people likely going to cause a significant uptick in voting possibly from both parties however his representation of republican ideals has been executed rather poorly. The absolute best thing he has done which is the only thing he can claim fame for is branding. Nicknames, catch phrases, belittling his opponents daily, and fear mongering. That's literally what his presidency and platforms have been built off of. None of that screams to me someone who can convince the American public be president of the United States again especially when there is no lesser than two evils there is the one evil and everyone else. However, half of everyone you think is stupid is actually more stupid than you think so there's a possibility for none of that to matter to them. He was up against the best candidate for him to win against in 2016. Unless the same kind of candidate emerges at the very end of this he shouldn't win. I'd consider ignoring scientific discourse, creating misinformation while whining about facts and labeling that as misinformation, caging children in inhumane conditions, splitting up families, mismatching children back with parents, empowering radical groups, causing constant fluxes in the economy based on what he feels like tweeting at 6am in the morning, killing America's trade business worldwide and spiking prices in America's infrastructure to prove a petty point, discrediting minority groups, toxifying politics, enabling world dictators, and countless attempts to destroy the free press to be something like burning down America. So I agree with you a on practically everything you said. The issue is that all of the democratic candidates made it i want to beat trump instead of I want to do something like work on immigration reform, etc. Their main mantra was I want to beat trump. You can hear it in all of their press conferences and town halls. People are tired of the impeach trump bullshit. Saying that wont bring any of the other voters out there. This election will probably have one of the smallest turn outs. The other thing is that the biggest competition for trump are alienating a lot of white voters with the talk of the reparations, absolutely idiotic. Warren wants to make reparations not only for african Americans because of slavery, but for LGBT because of how they were treated. The issue with reparations, especially for something like slavery, what if that white family wasnt in America when slavery was legal. They still get charged under the plan. It makes no sense and is absolutely idiotic. Then there 21(?) Democratic candidates? Idiotic. All of them saying they want to beat trump. They all screwed each other over. To many options for the american people. People are too dumb to work together to not have trump as president again with 21 canidates.
The field is gonna shrink considerably and if there's still this many candidates around when 2020 officially starts then that'd pose to be a problem for retention of the average American's attention. There's a handful of candidates now that are just 'feeling the waters' and giving it the college try. If they happen to sporadically take off they'll stick around for the long run if not they'd save their money and peace. Also there's a significant amount of unhappy people in both parties I think there's an underselling of how determined each party is to beat the other especially for this election more than any other.
