deathrun is dead. Its not basically or technically dead. Just dead. No discussions or anything. Hell the staff page isnt even properly updated so i mean wth why keep it alive why not repurpose it into another server? @Highwon
Because it literally doesn't cost SGM anything. It's ran on the same server as one of the TTT servers (I forget which, I think East) so there's no reason to close it. If people want to play it, cool. If they don't, cool. It doesn't affect anything else to keep it open.
or we could have a different gamemode that has a better chance of bringing $ instead of an actual dead server not doing anything
I agree with tz. The server is sitting there. It gets maybe a full servers worth of players over the course of a month. It might not cost anything to host but it could be a profit if repurposed.
It's free to host it so no reason to take it down. We could replace it as a flavor of the month server but like that takes developer power lol
Prophunt in itself takes not a lot of coding, it is the maps and prop restriction (like making you able to rotate, or exclude/include certain small or big props) as well as the skins and pointshop that take up a lot of coding
You dont need to develop anything tbh. I have been a server owner before, handling server files and such. Its really just a matter of putting files where they need to go and hope nothing goes wrong. If something goes wrong take it out and find something else to add.
Is JailBreak still a thing? I've been out of the GMod loop for a while now but I played the SHIT out of that game mode... But that's just my opinion.
If you close down deathrun, the 5> people that play it are going to either quit because it's not coming back, or play something else. This could go either one of two ways, but don't remove deathrun for another ttt server, because it simply isn't worth it. Summer vacation is just around the corner, and that means more people are going to play gmod. Removing deathrun could be a good or bad move, but right now is probably not the time. If anything, replace it with a different gamemode like prop hunt or hide and seek.
The main reason deathrun is always dead imo is because nobody tries to repop it because they don't want to play it. Yeah, it's not as popular as some potential other gamemodes but just playing for ~30-an hour brought up the player count a bit and I'm sure it could get even more populated. That said, it is free to run so at this point in time there's really no need to do anything with the server (as of now at least).
