I don't quite understand. I get that teachers aren't directly in charge of people's lives, but that's no reason not to discriminate against certain mental problems like, let's say, major anger issues. Oh yeah, let's give people who completely snap when provoked a chance when it comes to teaching, a job that requires patience and tact! I mean, it's not like they're endangering any lives! They'll just traumatize kids and create an extremely bad environment to study in! The reason "it is very likely that they will do their jobs badly as a direct result of their mental illness" is a pretty good one if you ask me. What's the reason for this? Is it basically a "shortcut" because it's just extremely likely that a 50-year-old won't be fit enough so they won't bother checking everyone individually?
I found a Harry Potter fanfic based on this idea: https://m.fanfiction.net/s/7452425/1/ Its pretty cool ngl
Okay, but again: Why is this something that only the military should be able to do? Any company would wanna save time and take shortcuts like that and should be allowed to. "Oh, we're looking for someone to teach Math to children? Let's not look in the 'known to have severe anger issues' pile."
This AOL article from 2012 actually has some useful info regarding discrimination and what is legal vs illegal. Bullet number 3 lists some things as illegal for a business to discriminate for, but those things, other than race, is are pretty much allowed. https://www.aol.com/2012/11/19/8-ways-employers-can-discriminate-against-workers-legally/
I think Trump has a world view, and he is set on supporting that. He's a businessman, he's running America like a business. He negotiates when he has to, refuses negotiation when he has to, using his own standards to draw the level of has to / not have to. America right now has gone insane. Border security has become a matter of racism, wearing a "Make america Great again" hat has been compared to a KKK hood. The left has splintered and has either gone full whacko socialist, communist, or remains the same as social justice. The democrats just spend their time accusing or denouncing Trump without bringing anything good to the table themselves. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is literally stupid and has no business being a politician, her "Green New Deal" is laughable dogs**t and looks like it was written by 19 year olds. The reason why Trump will win again is because A. The left and their leaders have alienated literally half of their voters. (masculinity is toxic, white men are evil, being a patriot is racist) B. Those voters are tired of being labelled racist and sexist when they are not; myself included. They are insane if they think they'll get one single vote from a republican. C. Trump is not that bad. He's a colorful man, extremely brash. But he's not doing a HORRIBLE JOB, WORST PRESIDENT EVER. I'd give him a C+ for presidency. He has my vote again in 2020. Honestly I think I'll never vote democrat again, for in their attempt to bring down Trump they've only proven themselves willing to support insanity or literally anything that doesn't agree with Trump, even if it means making themselves look like garbage. Which, they are.
There is nothing wrong with negotiation. However, when he doesn't get what he wants, he throws a tantrum. Shutting down the government should not be used as a negotiation tactic. It affects hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions, regardless of political alignment. Not to mention, his approval ratings are at an all time low. I dont think the entirety of the Democrats are socialists/communists/SJWs. I have met literally nobody on that side of things. What Democrats really want is a president that aligns with their ideals (e.g. pro-choice, higher taxes for the rich, gun control, climate change, legalizing marijuana, etc.). Trump is doing none of those. He focuses on border security and deportation, cutting tax breaks for the 1%, and dismantling healthcare. I'm sure if the dems nominate a politician who at least aligns slightly with their ideals, regardless if they're "communist or social justice warriors", they will still pick them over trump. After the 2017 elections, I think dems now understand how important it is to vote, and their numbers will skyrocket this upcoming election. All this of course without mentioning how unprofessional he is. Whether it be rants on Twitter, degrading certain minorities in speeches, or not being able to connect to the majority of the working class.
His approval is low, but he has the highest support from independents that any President has ever had, and it's the independent voter that is most sought after
To be on the topic of trump: he's about to lose a lot of supporters. The tax bill he passed that he was pretty proud of is now costing Americans money. People that have always received money from their tax returns every year now owe the IRS and have to pay. The middle class is having to pay, and it's stupid. He also banned bump stocks, which caused him to lose the gun crowd like me.
Are you saying it affects the 2018 return or the 2019 return? I've already filed mine and I've gotten more on this one than the year before; which makes sense as I made a little more in 2018 than 2017. Also, I would say I'm middle class.
I'm talking about the 2018 taxes - the one due in a few months. Lots of people are having to pay, people who have never owed anything. Source: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trum...-surprise-after-filing-returns-201206749.html
A: Not really. In fact, i'd say that most people who are left leaning now have solidified their views on trump to a point that they would vote against him. As far as I know, there are not many candidates who think anything you put in that parenthesis is correct. In fact, the democratic party is pretty conservative. Unless a serious progressive is nominated (and I mean, like, borderline communist) I doubt you will have any problems with this first part. B. Who thinks you are a racist specifically? Can you name even one person, with a source? I hear this all the time but haven't seen much from the research I do. Perhaps i'm facing down cognitive bias but idk. C. I wouldn't shoot for a C bud. I mean, I am of the opinion that a president should set an example for young children, and be poised/dignified. Our president is a fucking bafoon. While entertaining, it sets a bad precedent that I don't want to see again. Now, as someone pointed out above, his temperament and his policy are two different things. I dislike most of his policies as well, mostly because they are short sighted and do very little to actually fix the problems he believes they are fixing. Being someone who very much likes Economics, Trump is a fiscal nightmare. Our deficit hasn't gone up, it has gone down. Yeah. This is actually because he cut a lot of credits that people could get, and lowered the amount you could deduct to about 10k. I will commend trump for lowering taxes on the lower brackets, but I will not defend cutting corporate taxes. Those people pay practically nothing. If anyone should pay more, it is them. Simple: Tax the rich more than the poor. (i'm talking about those fuckers who got like 70 million plus dollars). Understand that I do respect trump in some ways: 1. Attempting to pull us out of Afghanistan and Syria (after all, I am a Pacifist) 2. Lowering taxes for my parents (they are poor as fuck and needed a break) 3. Removing the tax penalty for the ACA 4. Prison Reform bill 5. Calling the Opiate crisis a crisis and doing something about it (my mom works in a pharmacy and she was so ecstatic) 6. Working towards giving maternity leave to mothers 7. Some of his healthcare stuff, namely allowing for prices to viewed on some hospitals. Though I believe that healthcare and education should be free to all Americans so I wont be satisfied till I get that. But like I said, I can't vote for trump because there is a lot of shit that he has done I don't agree with.
I agree with what you said Pacifist - he is doing a few things right, but he's just doing a whole lot wrong.
Look man, I'm not American so I don't care, and when Trump was elected, I was actually happy because it was such a meme moment. But Trump is just such a fucking retard. Every time I hear anything about this guy doing anything, it is the most childish and dumb thing I've heard in a while, and it's the kind of petty and juvenile things that people around me haven't done or said since I was like 12 years old. I usually don't criticize politicians or people in positions of power, since I don't know a lot about politics and don't claim to know more than people with actual authority, but Trump is literally the dumbest powerful person I know, and he's the fucking president of the United States. After like 2 years of memeing about this guy, I was just like... is this guy just the dumbest fucker ever or what? C+ for presidency? I wouldn't even give him a C+ on "being a person"! He's the laughingstock of the entire planet.
Okay, first off it's not border security in general that's the problem it's the fact we have a humanitarian crisis south of the border and so far the only solutions have been to imprison illegal immigrants including children in less-than-ideal conditions before deporting them and an expensive 'border wall' that is not guaranteed to work especially considering the fact that there are already ways to get around it. What really needs to be done is that the Federal Government needs to fix the immigration system here in the United States because it desperately needs to be updated but the problem is both parties have different ideas about who should come into the United States. Democrats want to rake in hispanic voters because they believe illegal immigrants living in the United States will lean to the left when the problem is that a majority of them are catholic which makes them just as likely to lean towards the right. As for conservatives, a number of them have brought up some legitimate national security concerns such as whether or not gang members, and/or agents of the cartels or even the likes of DAESH get into the United States and many of them have wanted to have more aggressive vetting procedures in place. The problem with that is that many of the illegal immigrants fleeing violence from either Central and/or South America usually aren't carrying any sort of documentation with them which would more than likely end up with them being denied access to the United States OR ending up stuck somewhere until they are actually identified. Secondly, considering some of the statements Trump and some of his allies have made denigrating illegal immigrants, women, muslims, people of color, and/or other minorities should anyone really be surprised that wearing a MAGA hat is being compared to the likes of a KKK hood? It doesn't really help that the likes of the Alt-Right, The Proud Boys, and/or other right-wings extremists wear them and considering the bullshit they spout they're the ones perpetuating the comparison. Yes, the Democratic party has been fractured, yes there are some elements that lean towards socialism but communism? Come on, Communism has been on life-support since the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union so why provoke another red scare over the positions the Democrats have been taking. I mean, both sides of the American public believe the rich and wealthy should have higher taxes. Does that mean they're socialist? Fuck no! Also, why make a big deal out of someone being a so-called 'Social Justice Warrior'? Last time I checked it wasn't a SJW who went on a rampage at the Tree of Life Synagogue, it wasn't an SJW that gunned downed seventeen people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, it wasn't an SJW who drove through a crowd of counter-protesters in Charlottesville and it sure as hell wasn't an SJW that slaughtered innocent civilians in the Charleston Church. If you think the far-left is bad than you need to take a look at the shit the far-right has done, mate. Also, it isn't just the Democrats who are denouncing Trump, he's pissed off a couple of Republicans including that of the late John McCain and he's also cost the Republican Party a couple of seats because their nominees shared his poisonous rhetoric. As for not bringing in legislation to the table, they offered Trump a deal that would've kept the government open with some funding for border security but instead of accepting it do you know what he did? He started one of the longest government shutdowns in the history of the United States all because he wasn't able to get 5.7 Billion Dollars for a border wall that's effectiveness is questionable at best. As for AOC, I'm more or less ambivalent about her to be honest. I mean Republicans have tried to smear her and their attempts have hilariously backfired. Also, haven't you heard that the 'Corruption Game' speech she did is now one of the most-viewed Twitter videos from a politician? I mean if so many people hate her, why is she getting so much positive attention for that speech she made? Also, the Green New Deal wasn't just drafted by AOC, it was drafted by a number of activists including some individuals our age(s) that will have to deal with the potential fallout from climate change in the future. We're already seeing the insect population going down the drain because of climate change not to mention the crazy weather we've been experiencing over the past couple of years, if the Republicans have a better solution now is the fucking time to let everyone know what it is otherwise they have no reason to criticize the the Green New Deal. I apologize for the tangent but I just thought I'd put my thoughts out there for anyone who would think they'd be worthwhile (or not).
