On the FTB launcher it provides a 64 bit version of Java already. That's what I had to go through to use more RAM.

This is with Vivecraft, right?
It seems you're running out of memory. How much memory do you have in your machine? Maybe Minecraft is not detecting all of it.

I've got FTB launcher using 8gb of RAM, same thing I used with Forge launcher. My game doesn't lag or get choppy at all

 

For some reason, Minecraft isn't opening after I press Launch

okay what problems did you have for it before?

 

Nothing. I installed, followed the instructions for the FTB Launcher, pressed Launch and then MC didn't open.

 

Did you try checking the FTB console? Should be at least some errors or warnings or something in there
