1.7.2 Update Released (Should be live in about an hour from now) - Applied a temporary fix to the shoutbox auto-scrolling issue. (Credits: @Verified) - Removed a feature (HTTP -> HTTPS) as it is now available natively. - Removed unused permission.
What do you think about making the steam links under people's names open the steamapp instead? http://steamcommunity.com/id/awesomechai -----> steam://url/SteamIDPage/76561198077469774 But actually add the : because this site won't let me. @Chai @Highwon
It takes too much time for Steam to open up and load the profile for unknown reasons. Quantum. It's coming. EDIT: It came.
Well, this is embarassing, I can't seem to edit my main post... Anyways, with the new update from Firefox, the extension designed for Chrome now plays gracefully with Firefox Quantum, it definitely makes my life easier. There is no need for me to update them separately from now onwards, killing 2 birds with a stone. The extension for both Chrome and Firefox has been updated to 1.7.3. You would have to re-add the extension for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/seriousgmod-shoutbox-extended/?src=ss Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sgm /dmbpihmdkiieiknjnlgebnacmleljcao Spoiler: [Changelog] 1.7.3 1.7.3 - Replaced proprietary Chrome module which was meant more storing shoutbox customizable height, with cookie.
It shows how many users there are, but not necessarily how many are actually using it. Some people may just not visit SGM anymore but forgot they had it installed. But, I have reliable intel there are at least 35 users who use it on a weekly basis
This might be due to the Steam update but since then I havent seen the name below names or next to the symbols.
Thanks for informing! I'll see whats up when my schedule clears up, most probably at the end of the week.
I updated the Steam API backend to include more data as well. For now simple name resolving works again, but I think @Chai has plans to add more (like if they're online, etc.).
Change is scary I'm wondering what determines whether new posts show up in white or green though. I thought watched threads were white first but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Thanks for the plug But in all seriousness, with mine it means you read all the posts in said thread and in Char Bro's there are some unread posts in there by yourself.
Nah it's in new posts cause I've not read all of the new posts in it. There were still some unread. The bold white is a new thing with the extension update I'm pretty sure.
Yes it was my bad. I've corrected it. In other news, I hope you guys would like this new Steam Badge we (@Zikeji and I) are putting out. Lots of effort, time and sleepless night went into developing this feature even though it may not seen significant. I had to went through A LOT of iterations on the design before finally deciding which to choose (funny thing, it's never the case). These are just a handful of design I'm showing you, there's a lot more but I didn't get to save them. Anyways, I hope you guys like them -- 2.0.1 Released for Firefox and Chrome Oh and there's a difference between clicking on their name and on the Steam logo. If you click on their name or their profile picture, you woud be redirected to their profile page in a browser. Whereas clicking on the Steam logo would make Steam to open up and load their profile page on it. There's that. Currently, Game Joining and seeing what games they are playing are in the work. Per usual, I would love to see the community get involved in development, feel free to study the source here.
Hey guys, I've got a couple potential feature ideas. Want to see if they're worth implementing. Showing the new shoutbox message indicator on the page title for the homepage. Essentially to replicate the functionality of the chat page by itself. Automatically reloading homepage widgets (Main, Community, SeriousTTT, etc., Server List, New Posts, Staff Online, Members Online Now, Forum Statistics) on a schedule (every 5 minutes, every minute, configurable?) while the page is open. These two features combined would essentially make the home page into more of a powerful SGM Community overview that you can sit on passively. I just thought of them randomly and was curious to see if there were any takes on the idea.
Please add ross's code for adding the new posts widget to /chat url with a 5 min refresh, I have this as a tampermonkey extension and its great.
