i'm going to talk about building a computer, the goals for this computer are pretty simple, run triple A titles at ultra, at decent frames ~40-60+~

For the processor I looked around for a cheap dual core that is newer. Two options come to mind, there is the Intel i3-4130 , or the Intel pentium G3220. Both have the same amount of cache, the same 22nm MA, and both of them sport the newer Haswell socket (1150)
For the point of gaming I'll choose the I3, the two extra threads from HT(Hyper threading) will help out in modern titles, also it sports a higher clock speed, and supports faster ram.
    CPU:

For the GPU, I looked for something cheap that supports modern APIs, and can game at 1080p. After looking around for a while, I found a card i am confident in, The Amd R7 260x, and I found one from saphire ( a reputable GFX card manufacturer)

    GPU:

For the Mobo, I was simply looking for support of the items I already picked, However, there are so many Motherboards that are below 60 USD here, that I would say it does not really matter. I would just avoid the EliteGroup and Foxconn boards.
    Mobo:

RAM is a simple choice here, just need about four Gb for system, since the Graphics card already has two GB dedicated to game related textures and data. So I picked the Gskill Ripjaws, it is a dual channel kit, config 2x2, CAS 9. Also the heat spreaders look BADASS.

    RAM:

The power supply is important here, The graphics card says it reccomends a 500W PSU, but ive read through the reviews from serveral sites, and 500W is a bit liberal, so we can push that if we need to. Dont expect a modular PSU here, this is a value build.

    PSU:

when it comes to storage, all you really need is something that stores things, and isnt slow as ****.
I picked the Western Digital Blue 320Gb 7200RPM Its not so slow, and extremely reliable.
    HDD:

Now we just need a case to slap all of that crap into. Picked a ATX/M-ATX case that is cheap, and has more than one fan, and USB 3.0 support.

    CASE:

You may notice, I left out two common things, The OS and a Disk drive. The reasons for this are, Disks are obsolete, and most people are able to use their current OS, or use an open source OS, like Steam OS(Linux), or Ubuntu(linux)

    Now for the totals:
    CPU info/review

GPU running Battle Field 4 at 1080p ultra

you forgot the OS. Intel is coming out with way better cpu's in a few months.

I did point out that I was leaving the OS out. Most companies are really stepping up linux support, so hopefully in the next year or two one wouldnt have to worry about buying an OS, what with MANTLE and such.

Ikr, My home pc was similar to this build, but instead of an i3, i used a G3220, its like an i3 with no HT, also i had a saphire 3gb radeon HD 7950, which was 200 USD at the time, but since then, the price has skyrocketed due to bitcoin mining influences.

    An i3? lol

Get your CPU and motherboard at Microcenter if you have one nearby, you'll save hundreds(look up their deals).

Get a 270, not a 260. You'll regret getting a 260. Also, get a SSD. The performance increase from just that is unmatched.

Yeah, Unfortunately there is no Microcenter in Oregon. As for the I3 the gains between it and an in terms of FPS are minimal, usually around 2-6 FPS.
As for the R7 260x v.s. the R9 270x; obviously the R9 series is better, but at a price point that is not nearly linear with the performance increase. an average price point of ~140 USD as compared to ~230 USD, so understandable from a value perspective it really is not worth it, unless you are willing to dedicate ~100 more dollars to the budget. As for an SSD, there have been many studies, an SSD does not improve "in game" performance, as in; It does not increase the FPS, however it does drastically reduce load times, as well as general windows operation.

I was gonna mention maybe keeping the 260X as a trade off for the SSD xD. I was at work so I couldn't put as much work into my reply.

I never said the SSD increased your FPS, but the loading time makes all the difference. If I were to install gmod on my hard drive, my loading time would go back to the minute to 2 minutes of past. Right now on my SSD it takes max 30 seconds, regularly around 15. Similar with BF4. My loading time when I have it on my SSD is ~15 seconds. My loading time when I have it on my hard drive is around 2 minutes, a 2 minutes I'm not willing to wait. The performance increase it has with load time of the files on it(especially your core OS files) is significant enough and the norm nowadays. Even a 64GB SSD for $40-$50 to use as a boot drive is worth it in my opinion.

I would also look into the AMD processors out there. If power consumption isn't a worry, their price to performance ratio is something to consider.

Yea zikeji knows what he's talking about. Also get a i5 or amd fx 6300 it has 6 cores with 3.5 ghz that's pretty good for 120 dollars :) also when getting amd make sure you have good heatsinks and fluent air flow considering amd processors do get pretty high temperatures. Not that much difference but... Good luck. Also if you need any help building your pc pm me

I have an FX-8320, worth the upgrade considering it's i5-i7 par.

I would suggest your current motherboard/cpu combo(except you haven't chosen a motherboard xD).

But instead of a R7 260X, pay $20 more for a R7 265. It offers a significant improvement for the price difference.

    See this video:

    Product link: http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=PC-R7265G2

Also it would be utterly foolish(no offense intended) to buy that hard drive. See this one:
    http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex

Also, another case that looks better(in my opinion) for the same price:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147123

You could also save $15 and get this PSU:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371023

Although it doesn't support at much, it's more then enough for the build. 530W is overkill for the build, you won't need it and if you ever want CrossfireX you'll have to ugprade anyway.

  11. Hmm I have no idea i have
    RAM: 8 GBS
    Processer: i7 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.90 GHZ
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 780 2 GBS
Holy shit after adding up all the cost of my computer thats a shit ton lol.

Zikeji :) well done. That's a nice mini case :p will be perfect for the build

Except the case I suggested doesn't have USB 3.0.

Oh.. Didn't notice that but I think he should get mid tower case so he can upgrade. A nice case that came out was the corsair 760t. LinusTechTips did a vid on it you need to check it out. It's soooo nice

Oh yes, the 265 is the new one, I wonder which chip its based on, either way, for me, I like games from Crytech, bethesda, and other game developers that use engines that dont effectivly use their threads, typically intel has a ~40% boost in single core performance.
In terms of a value build without intel, id go with the Kaveri A10, and pair it with the 265, Kaveri isnt so bad after all. Single core performance is still bullocks though. I do agree about the harddrive, I must have accidentally checked some option that excluded that HDD, because i dont remember it when i went through. My current actual mobo is an 1150 from Asrock, surprisingly solid.

Wow, just looked at some benchmarks for the 265, a surprisingly large improvement. Also, the reason i went with the 530w, was its 80Pb, and the potential for overclocking the GPU, and the RAM(those Gskills have massive heatspeaders) But you couldnt overclock the ram on this build, the I3 is limited at 1600mhz.

Just to put it out there, if you're not using it already pcpartpicker is pretty cool. Allows you many filters to search with, links included.

I know of it, i prefer to look through things manually though, if i see it in the list, ill have a mental reference for the part im looking at.
