All I have to add was that I didn't feel harassed at all. iirc if someone isn't feeling harassed the person 'harassing' shouldn't be kicked.

 

Guys you dont understand, jokes arent a thing in 2018. We should all only talk in christian terms and adhere to tea party rules.

 

Hello! As always thanks for making this report and helping keep the staff in check, and the server a better place. I'm currently staffing but will form a response as I am able to.

 

Hey there Ekko,

I'd like to start this process off with showing a pretty clearly defined rule under the harassment section. I would hope this speaks for itself, but I'll go ahead and fully explain my situation anyway.
Also, don't worry you're not going to get warned or banned, but I'd prefer if you're going to make a report about staff mishandling harassment rules, you don't insult the moderator in question.


Here is the first instance of harassment where you were pretty blatantly using the word in the context of a slur.

Here, despite the fact that I gave you a clear warning against harassment, you decided to type another slur into public chat. With your playtime, you are MORE than aware of the private message function on our servers, but decided not to use it. Considering the fact that I had warned you within 1-2 minutes earlier, I felt a kick was easily appropriate.


Even after the kick, I was very lenient when you decided to use the term at least 2 more times after you were kicked:



The last one was even after I posted the rule about group-based slurs into chat.


While I by no means condone harassment, as I explained on-server (However you may have been off the server at the time), anything said in PM stays in PM unless the player you message feels harassed. If you truly feel the need to speak like this to close friends (which I fully understand) keep it in private channels, and make absolutely sure you're both on the same page.
With that I conclude my response and tag my superior @giraffe ☯ for his verdict.

 

I call helix, acno, agent a, opalium, tons of people homo publically in shoutbox. Never had a problem. If Sam was harassed and told you he was harassed fair enough, valid warning, but he DIDN'T.

I was trying to help YOU by correcting YOUR mistakes. I didn't use it in a harmful or hostile context. The way I used it was totally appropriate.

Anyone I wouldn't normally report for this im just in a hella bad mood and I know im gonna regretit in the morning, sorry.

As my former master, may he rest in peace, would say- I've looked into all the aerials and variables of this situation here, and I've come with a conclusion.

So I'm going to basically split this report into two parts. First for the initial warning and the second for the events that transpired afterwards.

Starting things off here- you are correct that Flaco should not have warned you in that situation, at least not without any sort of context of what was going on between you two. I will be going over with Flaco about what he should properly do in situations like these, so he that will make the correct calls in the future.

As for the second part of this report involving the slurs- aside from the kick, which was caused by Flaco jumping the gun with the warning, Flaco's actions were justified here. I see no problem with Flaco attempting to crack down on you throwing out the slurs, because there was no reason to be saying them in the first place. All it takes is one person throwing those kinds of words out there on the server, and it can easily rile up more people into say saying these kinds of things, which we would actually like to avoid happening as much as possible.

I'll be marking this report valid purely for the warning that was given and for the kick that was promptly given afterwards, since that should have been the actual first warning for using slurs on the server, regardless of whether or not you think you were "helping him."

Also-

This and your behavior in shoutbox during this whole ordeal was not only completely unnecessary but also downright rude. What goes through your head that makes you think it's okay to say this about someone who: A) takes time out of his day to staff these servers and B) never once said anything negative towards you, just asked you nicely not to do something like saying slurs on the servers. This could have easily been solved by just shooting me a message on Discord or steam, but you instead chose to call my mod derogatory names in shoutbox and a report just because you were kicked from a video game. I like you Echo, but your behavior throughout this whole situation was totally out of line.
