Trump Bans Trans People from Military Service

You ever hear about the saying if you don't vote then you have no right to complain. That's what I am getting at.

Aint gonna stop me though. I have a right to voice my concerns because Trump is trash and hillary was also trash. I wasnt a person worth a billion votes to get my boy in so ill not support either of the trash bins.

You wanna know what good things he has done? That one bombing in Syria, he stopped taking shit from North Korea for a month (he ran out of Viagra and ran away), his travel ban is improving slightly every month, and he stopped full travel to north korea. 6 months to do all of that? That's so bad.

If trump gets impeached then Mike Pence will become the president, and that's probably just as or close to being disgusting as well. Ugh god bless the US.

 

The military has a right to say who joins and who doesn't. Cases of asthma, diabetes, depression, even extreme cases acne can disqualify you, if I'm remembering correctly. Transgender veterans showed high rates of mental illnesses, so this honestly makes sense to me at first glance. While you wouldn't be immediately discharged if you became a diabetic after enlisting, it's different with stuff like schizophrenia and other mental conditions, which can quickly make a service member incompatible with military service. I'm not entirely sure where gender dysphoria would fall in terms of a chapter 5-17.

The justification of cost doesn't really make sense to me, as studies have shown that it wouldn't really be a big deal.

I'm particularly curious what the service members and veterans in our community have to say about this. Remember to keep it civil.

EDIT: It looks like Trump is just not lifting a six month delay / ban that already existed for the "military chiefs to conduct a review to determine if allowing transgender individuals to enlist in the armed services will affect the readiness or lethality" Source.

EDIT V2: This survey shows an overwhelming 40% suicide attempt rate for transgender adults. The NAMI - National Alliance on Mental Illness - reports that "LGBTQ individuals are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition" than non-LGTBTQ persons. Whatever the cause of these statistics - which can be attributed to "a variety of factors including social stigma, discrimination, prejudice, denial of civil and human rights, abuse, harassment, victimization, social exclusion and family rejection." ( The article which contains both quotes ) While such cases are tragic, it is a social issue, and I'm not sure how compatible military institution would be. The environment in the military is simply not a good place to focus on mental illnesses. Feel free to take that last part with a grain of salt, because I'm just basing it off my personal experience with prior and current service members. While I'm not in favor of excluding people off their gender or sexual orientation, mental health and conditions are necessary for the stress that many veterans go through.

 

Normally I don't give a crap about politics, but from insulting 80% of Americans
to then offending at least 95% of Americans with ridding of Net Neutrality to now targetting the LGBTQ community.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about. 36% of the United States isn't bipartisan. Most people in the Unified States have a bipartisan view of all political dilemmas. Color blind individuals aren't allowed in certain roles, where it could compromise the mission..
