There is one reason a mod should see private messages: harassment You know an easy way to prove harassment? Screenshots or chat logs from the person being harassed This is the only reason for mods to see private convos? Harassment doesn't even occur often enough to justify this, and if it does then it can be dealt with just like in GMod (see above) What's the point of having a private message system if it's not even private? I'd really appreciate if mods weren't snooping in on any of my chats with any player, as I've already had the case where I've been sharing private info 3+ times, and there shouldn't be any reason for ANYONE to see In all, this is completely unnecessary and a severely uncomfortable thought that deters me, and others, from using in-game messaging Not like mods can even see messages in TTT, which includes other offenses, like ghosting
+1 I don't see a need for this feature. edit: the ability for staff to read private messages I mean, not the pm feature as a whole.
Have to agree; the PM part of the command should be removed, though the rest is very useful, so I believe the command as a whole should be kept. It is pretty uncomfortable to see what people are PMing to each other when checking things out.
Any sort of conversation you're having that's that private should be kept in steam chat. Edit: Didn't pay attention to the fact that this is in the Minecraft section. The same statement applies here in a way. If you're chatting in a video game, you really shouldn't expect any level of privacy.
Will be removed later tonight; this is only a feature that should be available to Developers and Owners, not Mods/Admins
Just a quick note as well in case it's not considered- but also please include party chat. Edit: To be clear, by include party chat I mean remove that along with PMs. Not include in CW. :|
