Rejected Deathrun end round songs

Please can we have end round songs for deathrun?

I don't see why it would be a big deal.

Just get the map music to stop while the end round songs are playing.

The reason I want this is because I am somewhat active again, and I like DR, and there's so many songs people want added to TTT, but since there's already a ton of songs in TTT, why not make your contribution to DR?


(It will be like TTT. There can be an option to disable it and everything. Just the same as TTT, but DR)

 

I don't personally see why not. It's just an opportunity to add more community requested content into.

 

Adding songs to Deathrun can cause several amounts of spam and I think the songs are unnecessary. If there are mods online, I am sure they can handle these types of issues, but what if there are no staff members online? There is a mic timer to prevent mic spam however, it can only stop the person from singing for a short period of time. On the bright side, achievements are being worked on right now and maybe you can request that music gets added in there. I personally do not want music to be going every round especially because the rounds are sometimes short. It is definitely something to think about for the future .

 

Having never played TTT, I'm not too sure exactly how well end round songs fit in, or how the population of those servers react to them. Given this, I decided to ask around the TTT side of the community a bit. The general consensus reached was that the songs are more often than not obnoxious and were personally disabled immediately, and took away from their experience on the server rather than adding to it. However, these are just other people's biased opinions that I'm going off of, so maybe I'll hang out on TTT to hear it for myself sometime...
But even prior to asking around, my instant reaction to this post was fairly negative. It's not something I personally have any interest in seeing added, and I can guarantee I would disable it as soon as it was implemented. I just think it would definitely get on my nerves, even if it wasn't every round (given that rounds in DR can take anywhere from 5mins to less than 30seconds), and there might be quite a lot of people who would agree (and perhaps more in favor, I'm not too sure where the population's stance lies).
@NoHackJustGood does have a point though. Familiar/catchy tunes playing in the server, even for 19 seconds or less could promote disruptive behavior and mic spam (singing along). Even though there's almost always a Deathrun moderator online, there are times where the server ends up staffless, and do we honestly want to turn it into karaoke night when there's "no mods, no rules"?

Just something to consider.

 

In TTT, end round songs are very good, but they are mostly dubstep or pop, and I really just dont think these would suit deathrun. No thanks.

 

I get this, LadyLag, but this happens to TTT, and that's why we have people to report those players.

Would like to add that I agree completely with the micspam, I just don't see it as that big of a problem.

You've just got to know who to ask too. I suggest you ask anyone here who has requested that we add a song, see if they have songs disabled. Pretty sure there's also a function to mute someone locally, so if there is someone being so annoying and micspamming, then a smart player can report him, and mute him locally.

I don't want to be mean, but a reason why we can't have this feature is because staff can't staff? A lot of staff have lives, yes, but how long are staff NOT on the server? 2 hours? 4? 6?

That's why we have the suggestion section. I do agree we mostly have dubstep and pop. I am a rocker myself. There's actually a ton of AC/DC and queen that I hear while playing TTT.

 

I just dont think it would be good for deathrun. And, as @LadyLag has said, you have only a small amount of playtime. About the staff: There are only 5 mods and 24 hours in a day. Don be so harsh

 

See, I'll disagree with the idea of micspam, however, I'll admit my argument may not hold much water


In ttt, muting a player client side isn't realistic. They could call people out, or even yourself if they were trolling, and you'd have no way of knowing.


As far as I know for deathrun, the only thing you NEED to really say is where traps are. But the vast majority of players will stop in a swarm right before hand, so you can guess where they are.

If sounds more realistic to me to have players be able to mute someone client side, in the case off deathrun.

In all honesty, I would not like this to be implemented.
I've been on a lot of servers where they've had round ending music, and it's annoying to me.
I mainly listen to music while I play, or do anything on my computer.. So having 2 songs playing at once, along with trying to listen to all the players, I think would not be good.
Although, I could turn off my music while playing, that's a lot of work

 

In this thread: DR mods complaining about an issue TTT mods deal with and have no problem with.

I don't think it's a bad idea. Maybe every other round or only if the round takes longer than X time.

 

We are always willing to deal with this if it takes place. I think of Deathrun as a calm place where people talk and enjoy themselves. I personally feel the music could get in the way of that.

 

I mean have you ever played TTT? People talk there all the time. 10 seconds of music that you can disable is not really going to be the end of the world.

Most of the points made on why we shouldn't have end round songs seem pretty stupid when it comes to it.

It seems like it's down to how many people would actually use the function (by this I mean not have it disabled and enjoy it.) Because that decides whether or not Chai should code it.

 

Yea... not like I was a staff member there . Anyways, the music doesn't really seem to fit the "theme" of Deathrun. You have songs like Survival (Eminem) that set the TTT gamemode. If there were songs that were to fit the Deathrun "theme" then maybe I would +1 this suggestion. You can't have "We Will Rock You" in Deathrun. It just wouldn't need make sense in my opinion. Once again, there are lots of opinions out there. I'm sure there are very few people agreeing with me at this time.

 

.... I never said copy the TTT songs to the DR, but I was merely saying that we should have DR end round songs. It can fit DR. I was saying a lot of people want to suggest songs, but we aren't really going to add many more because there's a lot as it is.

( an example, not actually wanting this on DR, but it's just an example of what I imagined people would suggest for DR )


Also it's worth mentioning that we would have to suggest songs to get any. And suggestions go through community feedback and the LEAD Admins and highwon actually read to see what the community says about it.
