So many people have keybinds to kill themselves and tell people to mark as missing, you could easily just fake that and then someone would think you were dead and then they'd RDM if it was 3 people on scoreboard (you, a traitor, and an inno) I even see staff members do it, why is this a thing?
when you hit tab and click people's names it will show a set of things to mark them. You can mark them missing there. It just means that the mod is killing himself to deal with reports, and that you should mark him as being dead (missing).
well then ill re quote it here And that means a staff member or anyone could mislead people by saying in chat" mark me missing" but not suiciding. ffs
Now I haven't played in probably 6 months now, but if you do that bind doesn't it also show you as *DEAD* to the left of the phrase in chat when you hit it? I mean, I have one too, but I sure as hell dont remember.
Yeah but like, that's just part of the game. I can lie and say I died but no one has to believe me. Misleading is just part of the game lol, but generally staff don't do it for that purpose, they just do it to inform players they are investigating reports.
They could, I have yet to see someone do that in 1000 hours played. Or I dont remember, but I remember a lot of hella silly things and that would've been one of them.
The reason behind it is to avoid the appearance of trolling by the moderator, in case they /kill themselves next to someone and thus create a situation where that person is RDMed for ignoring the body or because someone thought they killed the moderator.
Then they should be using "I have just killed myself" including the "mark me missing" is where the problem is.
mark me missing is just faster than saying "i have just killed myself". It's not really misleading, it's just something moderators do because it's easy to do and doesn't ever cause any problems.
I think what @Xproplayer is getting at here is the ruling: are you able to take it under the process of elimination part of the common sense rule. Meaning can you kill someone for implication there. Example: Characters-Player A, B, C, D. Player A is an innocent. Player B is a traitor. Player D dies and player C uses his kill bind. Whether or not player C fakes the kill bind (types it out in chat) or they actually kill themself, is Player A now allowed to kill Player B because player C is suspected dead? The answer is most likely no because you do not know 100% that they are dead and according to the extended rules, CDriscoll said,
The reason I use this kill bind is to allow players to know I have killed myself and avoid affecting the round in some way. Just killing yourself at random can cause confusion among the players: if for instance I suicide while standing next to some other player, any witness could accidently think that player killed me and kill them. Also, it allows player to know that I am dead even though on the list I appear as MIA. As long as the bind clearly states that this was an intentional, I see no problem in using it.
