Your In Game Nickname: PythonYour Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:58988042Which Server: EastWhy you should be unbanned: It's all down thereEvidence of Innocence: So I was banned for killing a recently "inactive" player for not IDing the body of someone I saw suicide right by them Aside from the fact I had no idea this was loopholing in the first place -- and yeah, I know you're gonna play the "well you've been here long enough to know" card, but loopholing really is complicated based on this situation, and I honestly believed I was playing nontoxically as possible. Even several of the regulars believed what I did was not loopholing, as did I, but I'm being punished for something that isn't even listed in the extended rules Anyway, let's just get into the evidence So first piece is that he was "inactive". At the time, yes, Giraffe was standing still. However, as you can see in preround, he was talking and gagging players perfectly fine. As well, the rules state even AFK players who are by UnIDed bodies can be KOSed for this, as it is a T act. It does not clarify how the UnIDed body got there Which brings me to the next point, which is the fact Ink suicided right by Giraffe. I gave Giraffe and Rozboon both 4 seconds to ID the body. Roz was even actively passing by it, and I would have killed him too if shitboxes allowed it. Yet, for some reason, because Ink killed himself and I witnessed it, I had to completely disregard a traitorous act because I knew both had nothing to do with the death, but over my two years playing on the server I have never, ever been even hinted at this. Again, I beg, please believe me when I say I had no intention of loopholing. This was something I had no prior knowledge of, and at the time I was just thinking of the rules I knew, which was that being by an UnIDed is KOSable. I just wanna say the server I was on was having a blast. I wasn't being toxic -- ask anyone, and I certainly was not attempting to loophole. I know I've apparently had a history of loopholing, as Guilty told me on my last loopholing ban, which I was completely unaware about. But after that ban I never loopholed once. This one time was a complete misunderstanding of an interpretation of a definition, and I was banned globally for it. I understand now how the rules work, but at the time I had no idea this would be considered a serious offense. So I'm sorry. But now everyone in this community just thinks I lie to get out of a punishment. The truth is, I accept punishment when it's due. I wouldn't be appealing this if I honestly knew what I did was wrong, but that's just something you'll have to take my word for. I don't know what I want from this appeal. But if anything, either accepted or denied, I hope you'll believe me. I'm not a bad person. Thanks for everything, Python
Loopholing is listed on the extended rules. Although, loopholing always has been and always will be a discretionary offense and it's definition, that has now been updated on the Guide to SGM (Extended Rules), is: the exploitation of our rules and how they are written to avoid punishment or promote toxic gameplay. It would be impossible for your specific situation to be listed in our extended rules because what we considering loopholing varies case by case, your particular situation will not always be the same as someone else's. The reason not identifying bodies is a traitorous act is because: 1.) the person could have been involved in the death of that player 2.) it delays the information given to innocents to progress the round. Ultimately, what led myself and many others to come to the conclusion that this was loopholing came from the fact that you witnessed Inkcrypted kill himself, from this we could deduce that Giraffe did not cause his death. Secondly, Giraffe is not trying to ignore the body nor has he passed it, this coupled with Inkcrypted basically planting his dead, unidentified body next to him leaves no reason for this to be a considered traitorous act. I don't think you're a bad person. I'll be reducing this ban to two weeks. In the future I urge you to forget what you think you know about the rules and play rationally. Denied.
