There have been many times when I leave a server, or see others leave a server due to harassment on the servers. A lot of times even with mods on the servers. I think stuff involving harassment needs to be looked at because it is a real problem and for me because I have a high voice, people pick on me and call me 12 and stuff like that. Most of the time if I don't see people I know or a mod on I will just not join cause I know someone will mess with me and try to kill me for no reason.

it can be looked at but you have to tell the mod online you're being harassed

The fact that you have to tell staff members that you, yourself, are being harassed if fucking stupid. You can make the arguement that "oh they're busy so they don't notice it" but how hard is it to just listen to people talking shit to someone because they're younger, or because they're new and don't play as well as others? How hard is it to casually look at chat for someone talking shit about the muslim religion as a whole and how anyone apart of it is going to blow you up?

    step it up guys

One fact about harassment though is it may take place in pm chat. Some players harass others by pming them. If they don't notify a staff member that is currently on how would we know that they are being harassed.

The fact is some people are not easily offended, and do not consider something harassment. Should staff ask the player being "harassed", if they are in fact feeling harassed? Sure. But your blanket statement and constant shitposting about staff helps as much as staff not doing their jobs.

I recommend you to google the definition of ignore. Once you understand the definition, you are ready to explore the internet or play some multiplayer online game :D
Harassment is a bad thing. What do you do about bad things? Either:
    1. Report it
    2. Ignore it
    3. Laugh it off
    4. DEAL WITH IT
    5. Look for some cat videos and watch them :3

What about adding ways that staff can see PMs? Instead of them showing up in reg chat for staff, it shows in console instead so that it doesnt really effect them, and if they need to they can just look back and see.

I think adding a way staff can see PM's violates your privacy and I would not support it.

I disagree. What kind of privacy would people be hiding? Its not like they are planning a drug trade in the middle of a TTT match. Of all things that people would be talking about, theyd more than likely be talking about the game, or saying hi to someone. Staff wouldnt need to check it ever unless something like this happened. Highwon could also make it a !menu command so that it wouldnt even bother then if they opened up console.

People communicating in PM's is a big thing, Innocents could be doing it, even T's. Staff already have a concern with Admin chat being used and relying sensitive information relating to the Game.

I don't need to stumble upon that while playing the game, let alone YOUR personal conversation or "he said she said" stuff.

id rather not have someone looking through my conversations with people im having on the servers, there are some people i joke around with that i dont have on steam and i dont want some mod being the third wheel in our conversation

I don't know what constant shit posting you're talking about but whatever, and I'm pretty sure I'm helping staff atleast take into consideration that they should handle blatant harassment. For example, someone on the server telling someone who has a high pitched voiced to shut the fuck up and kill themselves, because I've seen plenty of times where that happens and it seems like nothing is done until about the 5th time said person tell them to kill themselves.

When i used to staff for TTT, we had the command !pml and that opened pm logs. That is the only way that they could get into your conversation. They would have no reason to be using that command, and if you trust your staff team, then why not add it?

Violating the privacy of a "private message" seems to be something worth avoiding.
While adding logs would make it easier to obtain evidence for the staff, it would make players very upset if their messages were being viewed by people other than the intended user. Players can easily screenshot anything abusive that is sent to them in PMs and post it on a report, if need be. I don't see a reason for changing the way things are right now.

I don't want a staff member asking if anyone was offended every time I say fuck while ingame. I don't want to be asked whether or not I called my friend a bitch in a harrassy way or a joking way. How are moderators supposed to know when a line has been crossed? If players don't speak up then how are staff suppose to deal with that? Are staff members psychic? SOOO much is said in game that could be taken as harassment, so it's up to the players to let the staff members know when they feel harassed.

Staff members may not see/hear harassment due to the way it is being communicated. I've seen players getting harassed in dead chat while staff are alive or talk about it via PMs and some players even tell them to contact staff using admin chat and nothing happens. I don't know if the player is communicating it or if the staff are not taking care of it. I will say that I have seen times when a player harasses someone, I copy it and send it to the staff via admin chat or pm and it's hit or miss.

Taking care of harassment is a two way street. Players need to report it to staff and staff need to make sure they are taking care of it. Remember that harassment is subjective amd what may be harassment to someone may not be to someone else. However, we don't ignore it because it doesn't offend the majority.

P.S.: The staff seeing PMs thing was once discussed/suggested and turned down.

How about instead of complaining about random scenarios you apply for moderator an then we'll see if you can do any better?

Or, you know, you could just stop being so oversensitive to situations that probably aren't even directed at you...

I usually agree with a lot you have to say because you usually make very intelligent and thought out posts, but your stance on cyber bullying is naive and ignorant at best. If women don't like being raped in the military, your logic says to just not join the military. If I don't want to be mugged, should I never leave the house? People shouldn't have to go out of their way to prevent themselves from being victimized. Are you saying that every kid with a high voice should just never play Gmod?

cyberbullying can't just be stopped by turning off your PC or shutting off your laptop. Maybe that works when you're on an anonymous game forum, but think about people at school (or anyone whos online persona is tied closely to their real life). People will deactivate their Facebook or whatever but that still won't stop things from circumventing online and eventually affecting their job/school life/personal life. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it disappears.

Back to my main point, people shouldn't have to take ridiculous extra steps in order to be treated fairly, it should be the norm.

I don't think someone fucking with you in a Garry's Mod server is going to go out of their way to trash you on Social Media or track you down IRL to harass you there like you're suggesting...
