There's a lot of music threads on this place, but when it comes to music sharing the most important thing, regardless of genre and whatever else, is why you think others should listen to it. What about it is worth it in your eyes to share with others? What do you want people to take away from it? Post shit here.

Daniel Johnston has Manic Depression. Growing up he idolized and aspired to be like John Lennon, and began making music while slowly descending into a hell of mental health decline, religious fears, and unrequited love for the same woman for the past 40 or so years. When he gets on stage to perform he shakes uncontrollably and you can easily hear the nervousness in his voice, despite his fears he continues to do so. There's a great documentary about his life, called "The Devil and Daniel Johnston". If you are prone to emotional pain, this is the music for you. Choosing one song to share was too hard, choosing less than 20 to share was even too difficult, but I settled with two of my personal favorites.

Camu Tao was a rapper/producer, who in all honesty I don't know that much about. What originally attracted me to his music was how different it was and how strange his singing sounded on some of the tracks. I fell in love with his album, King Of Hearts, and later learned that he had died from lung cancer about 2 years prior to the actual release of the album (his label released it after his death). Listening to the album over realizing that it was written with knowledge that he would soon die of lung cancer made the emotional attachment that I had for the album even stronger. In all honesty, I think that it's insane that his music isn't more popular.

Phil Ochs was an American protest singer. Usually attending anti-war rallies, and writing songs of the same nature. He was well acquainted with other similar musicians at the time like Bob Dylan, but never became as popular. His life and music was dedicated to peace and happiness on earth. He cared so much about human life, that the way the world is, and the American Government in specific eventually lead him to lose his mind and take his own life. When FBI files were leaked to the public it was found that they had multiple documents on him, and continued to label him a potential threat to America years after he had died. There's a few conspiracy theories about him out there, reading about his life is actually incredibly interesting and very, very strange. I think the quality of his music, the life he lived, and the things he fought for and how much they meant to him are worthy of a lot more people listening to his music.

Post yours down below, and I'm sure I'll end up posting more later as well. Excited to hear what is important to you all.

These 4 songs are from the same band. Ween is weird beyond belief. Ween is also incredibly amazing, and although they have a cult following, they're not nearly as well known as they should be for their ability to do everything differently, completely avoid being cool, and be able to pump out hits left and right while changing and creating genres multiple times in each album. Please, listen to Ween. They also did a few songs for spongebob, which is pretty funny.

Fucking, peeps thinking 'yo dat shit is old fuck it' but I got like 'do you even know how to loosen up? I would think you do considering how bat shit crazy this generation is but I guess I'm wrong.' 'That bass is all i need homes!' 'Well, lemme tell ya something. You're not actually loosening up then but enjoy your hearing until age 28.'

Anyway, I would have the whole album to post here but it was removed from youtube so here's the first several songs from the album.

Okay, first off, I listen to bits and pieces of all genres, with a strong preference for heavy rock and metal. But this? This isn't it. Enjoy some lighter songs for once.

    Cartel - Say Anything (Else)

    The Loved Ones - 100k

Spill Canvas - Polygraph! Right now!
The Spill Canvas is one of my favorite bands...the singer is hot as hell, each of their songs is an entirely different style (check out more if you're interested), and Nick Thomas (singer) is doing some solo songs that are way different, but still amazing.

Jonathan Young - I'll Make a Man Out of You
This dude does awesome covers of almost every Disney song, some pop songs, and has a few original songs. He's really good (plays virtually every instrument and does vocals), and he's SO nice, so you guys should check him out.

    Here's some really underrated stuff.

This song was made by a really young producer, i think he was maybe 16 or so when he wrote this. super impressive.

  8. duuuuuuuuude, I love Ween! They're so talented

My favorite album from them is I Could Live in Hope, it's so fantastically melancholic

Hmm, I think they still get a lot attention... Sure, they're not greatly popular with the younger crowd like they were back then but that's how it is with older music. Some kids might not check it out or like it because they probably don't want to spend a lot of time going back to all the classics when there's so much music coming out now. It should be perfectly fine to not like music from that time because not everyone is going to understand the music of an era they didn't live, and we all have different tastes anyways.

  10. Exhibit A:
Talk Talk. They have been gaining more fans in the music boards fortunately, but I still think they deserve more attention. Mark Hollis (the singer of the group) has a fantastic singing voice, and really showed how unique of a talent he has with the band's last 3 albums, making a sound that no other artist has been able to replicate so far. It's kinda tough to recommend this to people though, because their last 2 albums aren't easy t digest

    Exhibit B:
David Sylvian. Another artist with a superb singing voice and songwriting ability, and his first 3 albums are classics in my book.

    Exhibit C:
The Feelies. Definitely underrated for an 80s band. Recommended if you like early R.E.M., The Smiths, and post-punk music

Just uploaded this today because there was no video for it lol

Cry wolf is too fucking good. I love the direction his newer work has taken. Been a fan for a longtime. Probably one of my all time favorite electronic producers.

This. This album was a masterpiece, I didn't realize it until I took abunch of acid and hit play.

the main violin melody that gets repeated throughout the song is simple but genius

it almost brings me a sense of sadness, but not quite sad, more nostalgic than anything.

The amount of times I've listened to entire albums of Emancipator is insane. They are just so calming and easy to listen to in the background. My favorite albums are Dusk to Dawn and Soon it will be cold enough

For my recommendation to you people, have this song:

Also people please put your youtube links in spoiler tags so the page isn't such a big mess

So yeah, before the police were "The Police", they were Strontium 90. Good stuff, this is an older version of the hit song "everything she does is magic" and I think this version is awesome as hell.
