What happened to adding the stuff that the community suggested? The last few updates have had nothing we've suggested, or even anything that has been +1'd a lot. No offence but the last additions have been shit, Example A ) Dew and Doritos Models Like seriously? No one suggested this and it makes us look immature and tacky Example B ) Spyro No one suggested this and it's not high enough quality to be Elite Example C ) Power armour and Arbiter. Not suggested and holy shit the Arbiter is a disgustingly low quality model. This hasn't even taken into account maps, This was suggested http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/deathrun_dark_energy_fix.23445/ and hugely popular, yet you dont add it? This is only for DR, don't get me started on TTT.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure they gave a bit of a warning about the Dew & Doritos models and the response wasn't negative. ( Source: http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/player-models-what-do-you-think.21811/ ) But besides that, I agree with you. I don't think there is anything wrong with adding things that aren't suggested, as long as you also add things that are suggested. I can see no reason why they didn't add deathrun_dark_energy_fix. Do the deathrun administrators think it's a shoddy map? ( It's not. ) Is there something they just don't support in the map? ( Probably not. ) It just seems bizarre they add weird models like spyro and then proceed to ignore something the community wants that has no obvious flaws. If there's something wrong with dark energy just say so! I wonder if you can make a suggestion asking for a model to be removed.
I would love to see some of the suggestions myself, but we also have to consider the time it takes to process and render everything needed for the specific suggestion(s). In my opinion, we should just enjoy the servers as they are, and know that they are watching the forums. In time you may see some things happen, but life is a factor in that equation as well. You never know what the dev or anything could be up to that could delay the process. So, get out there and remember that patience is a virtue my friends. cya all on West 2 after work, game on!
Lol I had, I had indeed, just because I play TTT mostly doesn't mean my comment doesn't apply to DeathRun. So, as I said, just be patient maybe you need read my post again Calm my friend.
Your argument goes on the basis that it takes time to add stuff. My argument is that they arent adding what the community wants. Your argument has no correlation to mine. It also doesn't take very long at all.
An argument I don't wish to have with you ^.^ I worked as Game Dev for an enormous MMORPG for PC and there were a lot of things that took a considerable amount of testing and time to polish updates. Being salty with me certainly doesn't fix your concern. So, I just leave my remark as: Just have patience, and remember that not everybody's ideas are fully agreed with when it comes to a game update. If everybody got their way the Game would be a lot more chaos in my opinion. In whichever case, I hope you can find some peace from your inner anger here, be happy friend
If I could rate sub forums, suggestions would be "optimistic". Carned's is basically saying that it doesn't matter how long the updates take, as long as they are actually updates that the community wants. (More or less). wanna know another successful game turned to shit for the same reason? Runescape. (This point is sort of irrelevant, but whatever it gives you something to think about). We all understand that updates take time to implement. Which is why, when a random model or map is added, a lot of people are like "wtf why did they spend so much time on something that nobody really wanted to begin with".
Im not salty with you. This isn't an MMO We aren't talking about patches to gameplay etc. The community suggest stuff that is perfectly fine, and yet people add stuff that is inferior? If you want apply that to your MMO, it'd be like the community wanting a raid boss but you added a shitty pay to win cash shop.
On the topic of time @lost.ouija, here's another question: Even if it takes hours and hours of intense work to add something to the deathrun servers, why are things people haven't voted for ( Ex: Arbiter and power armor ) being put on a higher priority than something that the DR community obviously wants? Seems impractical to me. I feel what Carned is annoyed about is that 'yes, new things are being added, but it looks like you're ignoring the suggestion forum'. There are plenty of new models and such being added at this present time.
The thing is, these are all opinionated comments. You aren't a fan of the models, you don't like what has been added, and you are making it the opinion of the entire playerbase. While I agree, we should add more of what has a tremendous amount of positive feedback, like the map linked above, we also need to regularly add content from all genres, not simply what's been +1'd at the time... we just don't have enough of those threads to entirely base our content flow off of it. With that said, threads that have received positive feedback haven't gone ignored, just take a look at things like the John Cena jihad sound, the Zero Suit Samus model, or other things like that. Like said above, if all of our uploaded content was based purely off of the popular suggestions, we'd be out of content in about a 2 week period, if not shorter. I can't speak for the leads and Highwon, but it just seems logical to upload the popular suggestions in short bursts, like we've been doing, not necessarily all at once. All in all, what one considers a good model, or even a terrible model, all comes down to that person's opinion, and that shouldn't be forced onto other's... they have their own opinion, and can express it if they desire. Simply because one person thinks a skin is tacky, immature, or disgustingly low quality doesn't mean that other people don't like it, or that it necessarily is what that person said it was. Taking a look at the previous few content updates, there have been popular suggestions added to the servers, such as the John Cena jihad, Zero Suit Samus, and suggestions regarding the ShoutBox. Just because they aren't all added in one update doesn't mean they won't be, or that the servers are being neglected. Perhaps we simply need to stretch the popular content, make it last.
Clearly I'm not alone in my thoughts. Also the idea of we don't have enough high quality stuff to add? Bullshit, there is plenty of stuff that has been suggested or could be, but people won't suggest stuff because it doesn't get added! Also the John Cena and shit was added in August, it's November. Nothing since then has been to the quality we had previously been led to expect on the servers. The idea of it being someones opinion makes my point entirely, they are adding what THEY deem to be a good model instead of what the COMMUNITY thinks is a good model by giving it +1 or positive ratings. Again, there is enough good content that we could add something every 1 week and be fine for a few years.
Gonna nitpick for a second. What about these suggestions? http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/detective-pistol-colt-python-m9k.13154/ http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/detective-equipment-ammo-box.13864/ http://www.seriousgmod.com/threads/spray-paint-gun.22561/ Nothing apparently wrong with them. The first two are posted by Event, but I don't really believe that's related to in any way. I've stated this earlier, but why can't an admin+ just say "No, because [Reason]." Instead they just get abandoned because there's no verdict, which in my opinion is a pretty normal to get annoyed about.
Hey @Carned, Thanks for submitting your complaints. The upper administration goes through a long process of adding and choosing what addons we would like to add to our TTT and DR roster, and sometimes we leave things for the future and prioritize things in bits. If possible, would you mind sending forward some addons that we've neglected? We have a lot on our waiting list, and are rolling out things in slow pieces (however not every week as planned, since we work on @Highwon's schedule). If there is something that we've added that you did not deem appropriate, you may also feel free to list them as well. We try to branch out to all groups and players on our servers, and while I'd love to make every update include stuff that I want, we need to think about everyone. Highwon asks me and Disruptionz about the stuff that we plan to add, and we give the thumbs up on Maps, while he gives the thumbs up on Models. Please let me know any other concerns. I would be delighted to help ease some tension that is present in this thread.
Let me answer your stupid sarcasm with more stupid sarcasm. Yeah we should add the defib because it has soooo much community support. In case you haven't noticed, these threads are made, trashed and rated dumb, and then closed. Those are not the kind of suggestions Carned is talking about.
Its not a case of rejecting things. That never happens unless the suggestion is stupid. I listed the things i don't deem to be of high quality in the OP. I understand you need to cater to everyone, surely this would be done by adding stuff that we have suggested and has multiple positive feedbacks seems the best way to do that. Yet the most recent additions haven't even been suggested! So how can that be what the community wants? Surely the best way would be to pick 10 models that have been suggested and Highwon has selected to be of good enough quality (side note - highwon approved arbiter? Jeez) and then make a post with a poll, run it for a week and then add the most popular? Surely that keeps the balance of quality and the community feeling like they have a voice? Hell i could give you 10 models in 4 minutes that the community has given positive feedback on; work with the community rather than making them feel isolated from decision making.
Highwon is a very reserved owner. The content we added last week was supposed to launch with the first batch of models with the release of the pointshop, yet we delayed it to the future to not overfill the shop with content too early. That is why they seemed so seemingly random. We had planned them to be in the shop for a while, yet it was only until just now that they were made live. A lot of the "high rated" posts that you all have suggested are in my documents, but we only do small handfulls of them at a time. Along with that, just because they are highly rated and wanted by the community doesn't mean they are automatically selected to be in the servers. Sometimes there are very minute details about the maps/models, such as them being boring, unappealing to the eyes, too big, etc. A good amount of stuff that we've added is directly by the community, and we can't thank you all enough for it. However, I think you're looking past all of the stuff we've included thanks to the community, which might be skewing your opinion on how lackluster our choices have been.
If you make those assumptions about a model, please post it on the thread to stop people hoping when you've made a decision. I appreciate the good content suggested, especially the additions of Deadpool and Samus on TTT(even if elite still isnt worth it). I Still don't think that out weighs the recent lack of community suggestions. Weren't the Eevee models the last thing community suggested and had added? (i cant check im on my phone and its too long to fine) since then its been medicore models. Im not trying to bitch, i just want the community to feel like their suggestions matter, especially myself with the notable amount i myself suggest.
