Hi my name is Quit, I started to play on STTT again and holy shit a lot of the mods force reports within the 10 seconds of getting them. When I am trying to create a response that makes sense some mod think it will be a good idea to force it. I really dislike just putting the main reason without any other detail.. I kill a lot of people for valid reasons and if it just happens that they all passed an unidentified body then I would look like a big loophole.

I just want to ask you not to force these reports to early on.. It really pisses me off and it has happened to me 3 times while trying to answer one reports.. So I cut it short and did the one line "T baiting" Sure the mods are loaded with reports, but when I was a trial I was taught not to force the report if no response, I was told to PM the user and tell them to respond. Now even if I x off of it, I never get a warning, they just force it. Ugh... professionalism???

So has this happened to anyone else?

If you are a mod and someone didn't reply to a report, what would you do?

Also note this, I know you may check right when I die and see that I haven't responded and sometimes you force it.. Just wait until the next round when everyone is "Preparing"

  2. If a Moderator/Admin is consistently forcing reports on you in the way that you said they are, find out who their superior is and speak to them about it if you already asked them to give you a chance to respond and they still are forcing it on you.

Also note that sometimes dying, respawning, etc can reset the report textbox window. so it may not always be the mods forcing it.

Yes I know this. If It does I would ask a mod to force it. But I am talking about when it shows up, and I type up half of the story and bang, it resets.

Typically, I would never use the force response command unless I did the following already:
I would either tell the player to type !respond to respond to the report or private message them like you said.
Forcing would only be my last resort before I slay them for refusing to give their side of the story after giving them ample time.

Yes but some mods do this: If no response yet > If player is dead > Force

It is really tough to find who is doing it too because I find that 2 mods are on.

    Then again, I could ask.

A good method to follow for mods/admins if players are neglecting to respond to reports:
    ulx spectate <alias>
Spam R to see if they're moving around in free spec. If they are, force the report on them if they've not responded. If they're spectating someone, PM them. If you force it on them a few times and they persist to close it, then you know what to do. Not sure if I was correct in following this while I was a moderator. If so, apologies.

I was taught to give till the end if that round and Pm to ask why they did it. If not reply by the next round force a reply and pm. If no reply and they continue to it ignore it, handle the report. Generally when someone sees they got a slay they will start replying :3

I'm fairly certain if you force a report they can't close it until either they reply, they die (and it'll close automatically), or the round ends (and it reopens but in the closeable state).

I myself will wait till the next round, I force the report on them once it goes from "ended" to "preparing", at which point it'll reopen and reset the text anyway, by forcing it I'm making it so it isn't closeable until they respond or the round ends. It tends to work like a charm, unless the player has gone AFK.

You can close out of a report whenever you want by hitting the X in the top right corner of it... even if it is forced

I'll have to test it when I get a chance. In the version of the report system I worked on you couldn't close it if it was forced on you. That could have changed in an update to the system, but I don't think Highwon has updated it from the source, he's branched off.

I'll sometimes see a player who is reported close the window in post round and then walk around, then I'll force it. If they keep closing it I'll wait until the next round begins and then put a slay on the to see if that encourages them to respond

EDIT: phone posted before I was done. I don't feel they need to be warned in chat when a box keeps opening in the middle of their screen. If they ignore that than they ignore chat. I'll warn though if their lack of response will lead to a ban, otherwise I figure putting slays on them is warning enough that they can respond or sit through the slays.

Edit 2: Also I'll keep forcing if they are talking in the voice chat, which you cannot do if you have the box open to respond

You absolutely CAN close a forced report.

That seems nice but sometimes it is like just handing food to a baby, it has no clue what to do with it sometimes. Although it's better than forcing it while responding.

Ah this reminds me of the time a mod kept forcing a report on me i refused to answer. Why? It was blatantly false. 3 rounds of it i believe. And if memory servers correct it was @Chaotic that forced it. Seriously. I don't answer reports that are blatantly false and malicious because that is the only way a mod would warn a player not to put false reports. At least from experience of 1100 hours...

    @Carned The report specifically said:
    I did nothing at all.

This was a blatant lie when i was being shot at by the traitor and happen to win to engagement. Otherwise i am not making a second post.
@Chaotic hey. I said if my memory servers correctly. Back when your name was Rek. Fairly certain it was.

This is the 100% wrong attitude to have. You're hindering a mod's job because you THINK something is false, just because you might think that, doesn't mean you should choose not to reply.

Nonetheless, on to the topic at hand.

During my extended time as staff, forcing a report was only done if i witnessed a player actively moving then i'd force, then if this continues, they close it and and continue walking (very noticeable) they will get it forced around 2-3 more times.

If they still continue to ignore, usually them seeing "You will be slain next round" prompts a response.

Not sure why anything different is happening, seem's like common sense on when to and when not to force reports.

It would be an easy fix if the report window didnt refresh and blank out when it's forced on them and they already have it open.
Just a simple condition check where if the windows already open dont re-open it.

I'm not even sure why we give the option to close a report without giving a response.

Because sometimes you are in the middle of a conversation with someone, Or you were submitting a report of your own, Or you needed to look at where the indecent happened to give a more detailed response.
There are a lot of reasons. Just do whatever you normally do.
Personally I just wait a round, force the report as the second round starts and they haven't answered, then slay if they don't answer. They would have had at least 3 opportunities and they can still say something before the slay happens.
