I know its Serious TTT and not Serious Prop Hunt or Jailbreak or anything like that. But I think It might be interesting to consider other game types for the Serious community. I don't think I would be as happy to join another community's server as I would be in the Serious TTT's servers, so maybe having one or two other gametype servers would be interesting to see. Maybe just a minigames server, for messing around. Nothing that needs constant admin supervision. I know this is probably an eggshell subject, but I thought it might be worthwhile to throw the idea out and see everybody's reaction.
I get the vibe of that stating if it was bigger for TTT. Not to mention, the thread's been dead for a good 2-3 weeks. While this one delves on the suggestion of more servers for more games/gamemodes.
True but in that thread I've linked a couple of staff members stated some facts which explained expanding into other gamemodes/games is basically not possible right now (or just mostly impossible.) We've gotten an overhaul on one,and another completely new server available to us within the last month, La Vie. I think it's slowly becoming a reality m80, just not in other gamemodes/games yet. :~}
Yeah, that was Vanilla correct? And I know It's just this community needs to expand some more before expanding into other gamemodes/games though.
It took months to get a LP server. Starting up new gamemode servers would take a while, if @Highwon even cares for the idea In my opinion, we should stick to TTT. I'm sure there aren't more good communities out there that host other gamemodes
We are open to the idea however nothing set in stone yet. And it would be something that would take time for us to properly research and decide on. We want to make sure we do things that are in the best interest for the community and done the right way. If becoming a larger community could be detrimental to us then we would want to avoid that. With that said, TTT would always be our main focus. Feel free to discuss the different game types and what would better suit this community and know that we are going to be reading this and taking in all the feedback even if we don't directly respond to it.
So, now that it is confirmed that there is the possibility of getting more servers/game modes I say that we should stay with Garry's Mod game modes. Personally, the game mode that I would like to see would be a death run server. I understand that not a lot of people like the game mode but it is a nice gamemode that could potentially raise a lot of revenue if you present nice benefits in return for donating. What do you guys think about it?
This, Deathrun is the only other GMOD mode even remotely enjoyable. Other than GMOD DayZ but i dont see Highwon going there at all.
I agree. Deathrun can be extremely fun. I would personally really like to see it be added. Also, the revenue from it could be great considering how it is one of the more popular game type. I know quite a few people who would donate for skins/trails/etc. Heck, I would.
TTT, Zombie Survival and Deathrun are pretty much the only gamemodes I've played a lot of in the ~2100h I've spent on Gmod. ZS got stale over the years, but Deathrun is always a blast. If a new gamemode was to be added, I'm sure it would be a popular, solid pick.
Clearly we need a GMod tower server to represent the game hierarchy, with Highwon coolly occupying the top-floor penthouse, and all the non-VIP plebs on the bottom floor scrambling to earn enough money to live by seeing who can punch the most Obama cutouts. I can also get behind Deathrun.
Well, I've never played GMOD tower, and by the way you described it I feel like it's sort of a pay to win gamemode. Sure I can get a lot of donations, but I don't find that appealing.
I would be interested in a DeathRun server, maybe try it out over the summer. The problem is, is I personally am not extremely familiar with it, and I would imagine many other staff members aren't. Would we need a small but separate staff team for DeathRun? Or does DeathRun even need a staff member? I honestly don't know.
I'd imagine you'll need staff because there's delayers and micspammers and the such. Death run is fun too so there's that.
I volunteer Nena as head admin of Deathrun. Bhop goddess right here. I think we should make a new gamemode. With our playerbase, it would be an easy jumpstart, and all we need to do is think of a fun, enjoyable, and repeatable experience.
Hunger games looks kinda fun. I've never really explored other gamemodes too thoroughly, , though. So I can't really say for sure what is fun or what isn't. I just like the concept of some of them, although I've mostly found the execution of said concepts to be entirely different and a lot less enjoyable from my expectations, which I think is likely attributed to the servers hosting those gamemodes (so this sounds like it could be nice). That being said, I think STTT is pretty perfect as is. Of course changing with the times is good and all, but we have a nice thing going here, and to paraphrase Highwon, we shouldn't do anything until we're sure that it won't be detrimental to the community.
