I don't know if this is possible to implement, to add a reason for a slay like bans, but it would be very helpful
It wouldn't be required by mods to fill out, just an easier way to communicate that isn't direct

    Suggestion seen here:

I don't know about this... wouldn't it slow down the servers? Keeping extra ton of logs...

As a Trial Mod, and Admin/Mod of several different servers ranging from TTT to DayZ, Minecraft, ect.

Communicating a Slay, or Ban, is important. But the reason for the slay is often communicated by the report, as a report is filed, its generally discussed 'RDM' or 'You did something you shouldn't have.'

I have gotten into the habit as a trial mod to inform people of why they are being slain, and it is still replied. 'OMG WHY AM I BEING SLAIN I DIDN'T KNOW THIS.'

I don't think it is going to fix anything. While communication is important, the general outcry of 'I didn't know' won't be fixed. How people react to a negative situation is the cause of problem here, not the reports.

In all honesty, I don't see anything wrong with this being implemented if there is a method, but this issue could also easily be resolved if the staff were more communicative with the regular players. All the staff member has to do is !p name you're being slain because blah blah blah. If the offender has a problem with the verdict, then they can be referred to the rules and reasoning on why their actions were wrong. Any further problems can be taken into a forum report (though I recommend the offender to talk to an admin first before making a forum report).

@Rage that won't be causing as much lag as you think since you're only adding a command and reasoning with the same structure that the ban command uses (!ban name # reason). The slay command can use something like (!slaynr name # reason) and be pretty simple. It's not like spectator deathmatch where you're adding a whole new command mode and kinds of files that can cause unnecessary lag. If something like this exists and is implemented, then that could help the staff team benefit.

Of course, I can see some players still not accepting the reasoning behind the slay, but again, this could help reduce the amount of confusion and mitigate the amount of forum reports made on staff members. That's my outlook on this whole issue anyways.

I don't think you would need to log every slay like you do bans. I mean, we can add reasons for kicking a person. Why not just add like !slaynr Noc The player you killed didn't shoot first !slaynr Noc You're responsible for gernade damage

EDIT: Or for something more complicated, a drop down menu of general reasons for the slay next to the slay button. Listing things like: Gernade damage, kill on sus, other. and a command for players to check the selected reason and can inquire upon that line

The drop down menu is a good idea, and an idea I've been kicking around in my head for bans for a while. It would just have a predetermined list of reasons for bans, and corresponding ban times, so you didn't have to write it out everytime (and there would be restrictions on your "options" based on your staff position. i.e. A mod couldn't global or COI ban). It would also have an option for when someone is Karma Banned and you need to Mass RDM ban them, by signing your name afterwards (as a lot of staff don't do that).

As for the drop down menu for slays, well, that may not be the best idea. There's too many different situations in the game to explain why someone is being slain by a predetermined list, unless it's basic things like "You shot him first" or whatever, but there would still be too many situations where searching through a long (and I think it would have to be long) predetermined list of reasons for slaying a player would be less effective then just writing it.

What may be a better thing to incorporate (for all you guys who "Slay reported player", instead of !slaynr), would be an automated message to both the reported player and the victim. The reported player would receive a message saying something like "You are being slain because the report against you from [insert victim's name]" was proven correct, or "You are being slain because you failed to respond to [insert victim's name]'s report against you. And the Victim would get "Your report has been found correct. [insert reported player's name] will be slain next round". Of course, there would be opposites for them as well, in case the reported player didn't RDM, or there wasn't enough proof (Word vs. Word), or the Victim was actually the one to RDM. This way the Victim also refrains from messaging you why someone isn't being slain after you've completed the report, and it kinda calms people down (The Law used to manually do this for a while).

I know that the staff tried to use auto-slay once and I believe @Sinz said it was too buggy. However, if we could find something to help give reasons on slays. that'd be cool.

If they don't think the slay is fair, they can report on the forums. There is no way to make the players read the rules, so no matter how much we can try, obviously the "I didn't know" won't get them anywhere, and they learn from their mistakes. After the slay takes place, they now know a rule they didn't previously, and the likelihood they will do it again is less than if the reason wasn't presented to them. This suggestion can also take care of a lot of RDM and Leave bans from players that are confused why they were slayed. As well, if it's a dropdown, it shouldn't take more than a second for a mod to fill out, leaving ample time for other reports because they don't have to PM the person with "!p x y". There have been numerous times where I ask a mod via mic and admin chat why I'm being slain, and by the time they realize it due to being busy with other reports or AFK, I've already been slain. TL;DR This suggestion is saying that it will clear up confusion, avoid a lot of bans that would later be appealed, be beneficial to the player and the mod, and less cases of players getting pissed due to not knowing why.

He has. Refer to 2 posts above.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but sometimes the players will continue to fight tooth and nail that they're being slain for false reasons, we're shitty staff, bla bla bla. I feel as staff, we should inform the person if they're being slain, and for whatever reason; at least, that's what I try to do.

I'm going to just post some examples of people raging, asking why they're being slain, or leaving the server because a mod won't answer their question
