Been a while. You know what your doing, teasing the community with promise of a last gift. Whether that gift is another wall of memories or a giant map pack made by you for the server is gonna be a fun thing to speculate. As for leaving, everyone gets bored of the game eventually (espically when you play 3+ hours a day), but the fact that you stuck with the community so long says something. When I first saw your post about alphabeta, I had a gut feeling that you would go on to be a strong staff member, and even though you may not have left on the best of terms, you were still a strong staff member, mod and admin. When a good staff member leaves on a bad note, I remember them as a good staff member.
Your posts are the best thing to read when I get on the forums, whether they be resignations or introductions. I always loved the dedication in your posts, hopefully you'll stay for a bit.
Hello Yawn! I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting you seeing I am fairly new. And from what I can read you had quite the experiences here in STTT. My own experiences tell me that TTT is indeed an amazing game to play. Its concept being fairly basic and simple, for everyone to understand, but the possibilities are nearly endless when playing a round of TTT. As you might have noticed by now, I am trying to pay tribute to your post. As in a previous community I was also known for pages of text whenever I made a post, taylored to perfection. Almost as beautifull as a well-crafted masterpiece from the renaissance era. However as I became older and more lazy, my days of making long posts were over. I noticed you could convey the same message in far less words by going directly to the point. And I honestly think that people are more gratefull with shorter posts, as reading has become a skill of the past. In this era where 'less is more' has revolutionised the world (I am thinking along the lines as companies like: Twitter, youtube, instagram, text messages, whatsapp, etcetc). Even news sites have changed their view on storytelling. However, I digress. The fact that people still make long posts is a refreshing idea, and I think atleast one person should go through the same amount of effort in writing you a reply. You might have noticed by now that my primary language is not English and that there can be quite a few grammatical errors, but feel free be sure to ignore them. In my (short) time here I have once more learned a great deal, as you do in any new community (group) you join. If only you are willing to open your eyes and see your own mistakes you will do well! As I've not been here long, I do not know anything about your previous indiscretions which gives me a fairly open-minded view about you as a person. As I have read in your post I can see we do not differ a lot when it comes to judging people, as I too will always have many arguments to prove my reasoning. And I think that this is a very important skill, also in life. I heard you mentioned that you have done work for Microsoft which sounds like a true dream-come-true for many people. I hope you can regard it in such a way! I myself ended up studying administrative law, which was great on paper, but completely boring when it came to the practical applications. Unless you had a very high managers function, you ended up being stuck in the same routine everyday. It quickly became apparent that I was not in the field that would make me happy. I was stuck and figured I would go study psychology instead as I have always been fascinated by how the intricate social relations work, in terms of group-dynamics and the ease of how a person can be manipulated. I think I have already had a shoutbox discussion about this, and if people are interested I am willing to write a very lenghty thread which outlines most of my findings! It will be quite lengthy and filled with links to prove my findings and arguments. Anyways, what I am trying to say with this is that I have had quite a few revelations about myself while studying this newfound passion, and I've learned not to judge a man. As you'll always view a person in the way you feel at that moment. I mean you see the world through your own eyes. So any judgement you make about someone, will always be a reflection of yourself in a large way. Combine that with this cut-throat society where you are expected to have a judgement about a person within a few seconds (You might run into the wrong person and end up with a bullet in your head if you aren't carefull), and where you are coached from a young age to judge people on their appearances, their actions and their bodylanguage. And you can see, it is very easy to point a finger and reflect your mental state on them. Deep. Deep like a submarine. I can promise you one thing though, STTT is completely insane when it comes to forgiving people. They're doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results! So even with your previous history, if you put in the hours and show that you've changed the certain aspects that have gotten you in trouble in the first place, you will do just fine! That is, if that is your goal, and if you have the time to do so (maybe in a while you find yourself having more time to spend) "They will always come back" is a reference we are all familiar with here in STTT. Not only does this imply that everybody will come back sooner or later, it also implies that people leave every now and then. As in any organism there's bound to be the change we call evolution. A nice quote that always pops up in my head when I touch this subject would be 'The past cannot be changed, forgotten, edited or erased. It can only be accepted'. Because if you do not move forward, and cling onto the past it will eventually consume you. I completely lost track of where I was going with this... I hope you can appreciate my post, which was part rant, part embellishment and I do hope that you will stick around so I can read more of those posts you were revered for. In the end I think I fell short of my goal to write an even longer post, but this will have to do for now. I can not wait to see what present you will have in store for us, and I hope it will be as magnificent as your post. I have enjoyed the wall of memories, eventhough many references were beyond me. Wishing you well in your life, forcie.
While I would love to reply to everyone here individually, I can't assume it would be anything more than chaos and result in a post somehow longer than the OP. Nonetheless, I am fairly humbled by the somewhat surprising responses and feedback from this post. But as promised, my final present towards STTT is here. Click here to check it out. I'll be on Steam for any questions.
