I've always thought that things such as sending a pm to a player, friend or otherwise such as "doodle bop is a traitor." was fine so long as doodle bop was already dead considering that Ghosting is defined as "Giving alive players information they do not otherwise have access to." If doodle bop is confirmed dead then all players have access to this information. The reason for making this was because I was told that this is still ghosting tonight by someone quoting Darktooth. So I'm curious as to whether this is true and if so why? It does not negatively impact gameplay so long as the player presses tab. Now I understand that if Player A messages player B with "doodle bop is a traitor." and they don't know each other this could cause issues. However I still don't believe that it is such a large issue that it should be considered ghosting as once again, the player already has access to that information. @Darktooth @Disruptionz
This has been discussed before that just because a player has access to information doesn't mean they are aware of it. Such as to who is alive or dead, even if confirmed. If I don't know that doodle bop is dead, by messaging me that he is a T that will cause me to kos him, look for him, or check the tab menu to mark him as kill and then from that learn that he is dead. This will have the potential to affect the round, possibly by distracting me looking for an already dead player, possibly by affecting my thoughts of who might be T or how many players are left.
If you die in the few seconds it takes to confirm whether someone is dead or not that is trully unfortunate, and while I can see where this could cause issues with new players I just personally don't see it as a big issue. The main reason I made the thread wasn't to get others inputs as I already understand that people have different mindsets, opinions and overall thought processes. I just wanted to get a public clarification from the Leads for future refrence, as it's obvious that people have differing opinions on the matter.
Noc says it very nicely. But the simplest way I explain grounds for ghosting is "does the information or statement you are making effect the round in any possible way" if the answer is yes, or even question it being a yes/maybe then most likely it is ghosting. But let's wait for @Darktooth or @Disruptionz to give the official clarification.
What is said in this thread is correct. Anything that can change the flow of the game can be considered ghosting. Let me know if you have any more questions.
